Always something ongoing with gaming.
The big recent news is all about the Steam Hardware incoming...
It all does look interesting and as much a I've been a console fan I think I'll stick with 'standard' PC's for gaming...... Said as a Steam Deck owner as well.... The new VR and Steam controller are of more direct interest.... So many questions that only time waiting will get to...... So I'm more in on the Steam peripherals than the Machine itself..... Some vids to weigh options:
Hands on details:
For the lol's
Immortals Fenyx Rising was free Nov 13th(in time it may still be)
A game I really liked as a Demo but once I got to play the game itself(xbox Ultimate); I was put off it's open world. Still 'free' is 'free'.
Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition is out..... Given I've gotten most of the content over the years already, the changes this updae brings are of no interest to me(non mod player anyway).
ESO had a good video on it: Bethesda Responds to Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition Issue
But, Many A True Nerd had a good hand-on vid: Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition Is Worse Than You Think
Oddly enough before the release of the new edition it's not that been that long since I took a nostalgic look at my characters last saves.... I felt no need to really do anything but look around for a few minutes and change character.....
Dawn of Man vs Planetbase 2 is an interesting post from the Devs of both games. I'm a fan of Planetbase but a massive fan of Dawn of Man. Dawn of Man is a joy to watch as a well run village 'does it's thing'. Planetbase was the same but with one flaw, a fatal flaw that your colonists couldn't cook a mean to literally save their lives. So without extreme management of vegetables and correct nourishing meals they would all 'just' create basic food, non nourishing, then die of malnourished after doing the zombie shuffle. Walk around your base looking for a nourishing meal(bought from traders), too malnourished to do anything else. It was frustrating. But with the joys of Dawn of Man's game mechanics coming to Planetbase 2.... Well that's all a real game changer! I'm looking forward to it.
Ingredient storage by a meal-maker, what wonders to see!!!
Subnautica 2 is still ploughing on. I'm not sure about the background shenanigans re the old dev/owners but there's been a bit of pro Subnautica 2 in for going about.... Interesting....
Planet Crafter, is a staple of my gaming, mixing the exploration with intense amounts of asset managment/cration. So like Minecraft in space without the zombies, but still as hazardous to a players health.
Co-OP till the new DLC was still working out with me looting a lot... The overflow dump boxes(yes plural) were not sufficient to keep up with my looting.....
The
new DLC this week is proving to be an addition that scratches all the
right itches. New planet, new environment, new mysteries to explore,
new machines/mechanics.... I'm enjoying it.
Euro Truck Sim 2 has been of interest but I didn't do too many more trips over and above what was needed for the event player requirements.
The games constant updates are all good to see. Quality of life central. Looking forward to more of the upcoming DLC's.
Star Trek Online as a daily driver is always ongoing. The Halloween event was as usual entertaining. No more so than when the latest addition to the game, a player resurrection with zombie sidekicks, which when used in social areas spawned dancing zombies.... Which bugged out and never de-spawned. So many areas like Earth Space-dock was clogged with zombies all doing the Thriller dance. Hilarious!
Semi fixed since but still funny to see the odd dancing zombie group around. Space is not spared the bugs, disappearing space combat enemies, so I'm sure that is being 'worked on'....
Talk of newer players getting a catchup mechanic for endevour perks has been interesting but annoying.... Whatever gets done it still has to recognize the efforts of players that have made the effort to play daily and get the points to spend on the perks. Perks are called perks for a reason. Yet some in the high end meta are all for new players being brought up to the same level with no effort. Makes a player like me ask why should I bother. Any change still has to be as meaningful to those that did the grind. That's a whole other waffle fest I could go on but it's not worth it; Will have to wait and see if there's something done never-mind what
Game-play wise it's been the same on PC and console (Xbox) for me, daily endevours and event participation, mixed with whatever catches my interest(characters and upgrades in one way or another).
The Drifter has been a great old skool 'point and click, adventure' game. Nothing in the story was a real surprise but it's story lines never ask your to be surprised by any 'plot twist'; It was a joy to play the journey and be in it's world. A game that holds a balance really well between story and interactions better(imho) than some moments in the likes of a Broken Sword adventure. If Broken sword can be likened as open world then The Drifter is a more 'tight' game. A great 9-ish hour adventure.
Eve Online for me has not seen any 'real' gameplay, just one lesser character with an about an hour of hauling Missions(for the kek of it).
The latest expansion for Eve is just out so I've had to delete all the waffle I was bemoaning about. I have noticed that since the first trailer there hasn't been the same 'firecly contested' language used. PvP may be what CCP want the game all about but the silent majority just want to mine a rock alone(which includes me). Nice to see the patch to fix some of the Expansions issues. More to follow I'm sure.
While they do not interest me and I skimmed over the notes on it, Phased Asteroid Fields, contested or not. I mean I barley go Ice mining never mind this new 'thing'.
What am I interested in..... The ships.
ORE Mining Destroyer - Pioneer
ORE Command Destroyer - Outrider
ORE Navy Mining Frigate - Venture Consortium Issue
ORE Navy Mining Destroyer - Pioneer Consortium Issue
As Alpha Clones are able to train the new Mining Destroyer skill to level 2 I can forsee that taking the place of the standard Venture on each. I'll just wait for the initial hubbub to die down and prices 'normalize'.
The Mining Survey Chipset Module and Expedition Command Burst modules are interesting but perhaps more for fleets than a solo miner; That said Quality of life is increased for all.
SOE Expedition Command Ship - Odysseus is a ship that does it all, no doubt that will win the absurd price title for a long long time.
Expedition Command Burst modules with charges of scanning Strength Charge Pinpointing and Salvager Reach. More to add to the mix of ship meta's. Interesting as well.
The new Epic Arc — Fractured Legacy with three mining-focused missions is of way more interest.
To get started on this ORE Epic Arc a player needs to go to the AIR Laboratories station in
Kisogo VII and speak to Elias Peltonnen. Something I'll be adding to my todo list, again once the main newness rush is done with.

Lots to be involved with, even in my disinterest of the big ticket items....
