ETS 2....

The extended event time given was more to do with the Beta access than the need to give players time for the community goal. That goal was well on it's way regardless.

27thOct

28thOct

29thOct

I was part of the process, helping with a few deliveries past the personal goal; Not much but every delivery counts.

Both the rewards are smaller than I expected. They always are. I don't know why I'm surprised by that every time. Still good to do the event and still good to get the rewards. The flickering glow of the light from the pumpkin head is a nice touch.

EST 2's mantra really is 'Joy in the doing of it'. I only hope that this year sees a return to the trailers of giant presents, glowing lights and candy canes. Rather than the Dickensian scenes.

On a smaller note and while it does not affect me for any achievement I'm after; When a map gets updated(all appreciation for those updates) the traveled and untraveled parts get mixed up wiped/out. How much of a pain would that be for players to see as they try and get the 100% roads traveled achi...

Death Stranding....

209 hours played means I'm plus 38 hours since my last confession blog post. Yea, who was I kidding when I said I'd not do the other locations to 5 stars!

Short distance, long distance and abandoned cargo runs all made it happen more quickly than I thought.

Completing the locations(The Veteran Porter, Novelists Son & Prepper) also gave a lot more lore in the form of interviews and e-mails; As well as collectibles(useful and not). Not only from them but from other NPC's which adds some nice world building.

Oddly enough I'm not pushed to discover all the remaining data chips(never say never eh).

The last location done was the 'First Prepper'; He's was the most remote and took the longest.

Once I'd gotten him to join the network I was at least able to put up a Zip-Line to link into my and others zip-line strings to make it easier. Lost cargo hunting was a great help in boosting his standings/likes. They tipped the balance, hunting for such lost cargo also added to the 'fun' in dangerous areas.

I'd seen it in screenshots but never thought who would give it as a gift... The Santa hat comes from the Prepper.

While all of that was on the go, adding in the usual infrastructure upkeep was par for the course. It's no wonder I was still playing the game a lot.

This was also helped along by the likes reaching the high 900k's. Not a goal I'd set but as it was so close and I'd all else done, it was an easy 'goal' to fix on... Once I'd topped the 1 Million like mark more meaning to play was fading away.

So where and what now?

I still want to be in the game; But I don't want to be in it for the sake of being in it. The 1 Million likes was an easy ticking/pottering along goal. But now.....Having no goals is pointing me back to that which I don't want to do.... Data chips.

I think I need a more direct break from the game. Don't play for a week and see what the state of roads and infrastructure is.....

Star Trek Online....

Speaking of Halloween events, Star Trek Online's take is still a good one. Good but it has it's ups and downs. Ups in that I really like the door that opens to reveal a dark hallway with evil purple eye's appearing out of it...

My wife likes the ending lines from the older Drozana mission/event(the Bonnie-kin moment) that was transplanted over....

The down for both out gamaplay is primarily pug groups but for the actual event location it's the room where waves of skeletons appear and some can get stuck down a hall and remain immune.... 90% of which is due to a player not knowing to take mobs they aggro into the candle light(10% due to uncontrollable combat pets)....

Some groups are better than others when it comes to 'common sense'.

So ups and Pug downs. Sure whats new. MMO's gonna MMO.  Overall it's an enjoyable TFO to do. I'm still somewhat baffled that geared up players be it in space or on ground can be so clueless as to not know any of a known TFO's basic tactics. It's not like it's a new new TFO.  Anyway it still happens far too often; Almost as annoying as AFK players on follow.

Other than that my wife and I have been playing it on our newest characters. Popping a party ball or two whenever we can to shake things up.

On the STO quirky side among others I've seen a good Superman lookalike worth sharing...

And in looking back at screenshots I realize that my alt in the Cnidarian Defender with the Bozeman impulse engine visuals makes it look like it has eyes(I can not now unsee this and wonder how did I miss it till now!).

On the Xbox side the Delta recruit alt has completed the remaining Romulan 'tasks'. So all has been unlocked from that angle.

I did pick up the Kobali Doff from the maze. Kobali Prime is now thankfully a memory(for now).

So I've started in on the Klingon recruit transponder(Glutton for punishment). It's one I've barley started so the journey is going to be a long one. May need more than a 'just pottering' attitude to 'do'.

World of Warcraft....

With the Pre-expansion patch/content starting this week and the actual expansion after that; I've been getting more and more interested in WoW again. By coincidence I updated the launcher/game and logged in on a low level alt to see that the Halloween event was on.... So I hopped in and did the Headless Horseman dungeon.

Strange to be back doing it again.... Lots of good memories. Strange to be back in a village throwing buckets of water on the fires.

Being on low level alts in old areas may make me biased but for the first time in a return to WoW I felt that the game had aged. I fully expect that's a me thing. A perspective after sop much time away from the game. Then again in more ways the more things change the more they stay the same(and that was from 2014). More true of WoW now as ever. Familiar but so many little differences. I've missed out on so much yet with the new expansion is as good time as any to get back in as all players will be starting from scratch more or less with the expansion.

I've also found myself looking to stick on a months game-time to see if I can level my mains and take part in the pre-patch content. I've enthusiasm for it but then the reality of leveling hits and that feeling of hard work makes me think of unpalatable grinding.... Time will tell. I think I'm still leaning more on pay and play than not. A feeling, a want to 'get back at it', there'is hype for the expansion in friends who speak of it.

ETS 2....

With the season that is almost here, another game and another Halloween event. The game is all on the theme and I like it.

I've done one of the event trailer deliveries already and with luck I'll get more done sooner rather than later. I'm sure the community goals will be reached pretty quickly.

The rewards, two dashboard toy's. Of which I'm more looking forward to the new pumpkin(community reward).
