Gaming in more games. Surprise surprise.
It's also been a week of new music.
TenaciousD released a single.
And the Eurovision was on. I've gotten to appreciate the broad randomness of it's music entries. From predicable to 'out there'. What was once considered 'out there' now tends to be tame. My wife and I set it to record and then watch it about an hour after it starts so that we can fast forward. Some things just are filler, others we just aren't into and it's a long show. Some bits more entertaining than others.
The best of it for me was the end of the Intro to the show. Eurovision 2023 intro(Another band new to me to find out more about; Lighthouse by Hardkiss). While I didn't think much of the winning Swedish entry, Finland was my number one and I was all for it. Translating the lyrics it's a classic case of old 'out there' eurovision, now the go with it norm. IMO it was more entertaining and fun than most. At the very least it's catchy.
Also for some reason the Mechwarrior 2 remix from Timothy Seals - (Summoner (Track 2) from A New Dawn)) has been on repeat for me as well.
On to the games!
Eve Online....
With the anniversary capsuleer 'day' lasting more than a day it was extended to the entire month. I've had no interest in the event in game. It's nice to claim some of the freebies and a new 'special' ship will be nice to get. It's the only reason I'm planning to spend cash on the game(a whopping €3.75 per pack). On the last day of the event freebies I'll spend cash(or plan) to buy a few of the 3 day omega weekend packs. Like I've said before I'm a collector in Eve(despite CCP BS). I've not read any limits to buying the pack so it should be a way to go for me and still claim all the Omega event loot(I've been claiming the Alpha rewards on multiple accounts). Plus it's a cheap handy way to 'complete' certain things. CCP marketing at it's best.... I'm a sucker I know.
The free SP from the store wasn't (that I saw) promoted or even mentioned.. Maybe they should have made it a larger amount and a bigger deal.
On my two main accounts I've been doing my own thing. I heard a good quote about Eve players, that were 'all niche'. It's as true as can be for sure.
Of all my activities and shuffling; Travel time is by far the biggest time sink, alt/tabbing saves the day on that for the most part but when forgetfulness or lack of attention happen it can be a double pain(not in cargo etc).
Star Trek Online....
The new splash screen for the game is one I like.
As is that image on the character select background, pity the ships are way too dark with little to no lighting. The ship position isn't the best either.
Given the theme of the 'event' rewards I got my mains lil' Tholian ship out. Granted it's hung on to his ship roster by it's fingernails; But I've stripped and refit it. All Nukara reputation gear (as much as possible) and now waiting for the three new reward items to be fitted to complete it. As for upgrades, well that will depend on how well this hodgepodge of a fit works in action.
It's a small little project, far from perfect, but it should prove a fun one when done.
To then put the ship back on the shelf and not fly it again.... Nature of the bulk of my characters, with all the 'stuff' that's account unlocked. A good thing to complain about.
I may swap out the experimental weapon but I like the theme and as is it's a (kind of) chain weapon.
Taking screenshots in general, they seem to look better, like there's a little bit more softness to the surroundings. Maybe it's just me.
The new TFO is simple enough. One where a lot of the enemies can be skipped to 'activate' the objectives.... However both my wife and I have had PAINFUL groups, clueless to all else but attack.... All they do is try to kill everything..... A run yesterday saw both of use activate one side, cross over, do the other side and then help the middle to finish off.... All the while 2 players were back at the start killing stuff. There's a time for that but not in this TFO when you want to progress. Then we did it again on phase two.... Painful. It's the first event TFO that has me thinking of doing other non new content to just get it done faster.....
A TFO that does look good.
STO on Xbox has been very back seat, event daily and endeavours when suitable without too many rerolls.
PowerWash Simulator....
A need to play the game after completing the new/special locations pushed me on to try the main campaign.
The Lara Croft locations were interesting, a good crossover in game genres. One of the better ones. Then again it's a game where such crossovers are more easily explainable. Even if it was Dr.Who.
The Achievement problem is still a thing. But my need to play pushed me on. Completing the Fire helicopter blades first yielded the achievement, thankfully.
I've tried to get the new sprayer mod with new gloves and suit achi but twice it's failed to trigger in new locations. I think it's one of the broken ones. I've not much else to buy in the in game washer shop to make it trigger... I'll have to be more tactical and make do with lesser gear in later levels.
I'm 50% though the campaign so all is not lost. Egged Mansion next.
Darkest Dungeon....
While it's always a case of 'same'ol same'ol'; I've been having more good luck in the last week. Bad luck is par for the course so I've still had that as well. RNG is RNG. Overall it's been 'decent' going with lots of good hero checks.
The Darkest Dungeon II is not triggering any need to get into it. The first is such a good game and it does more than any of the changes I've seen in the second. Not even to watch it on YouTube. Maybe that will change. The change from the hamlet to the stagecoach feel off to me.
Breachway Demo....
A game that peaked my interest. Like a card based FTL in a way. It's very early in Alpha. Very very early but it's got promise and it's demo has a lot to look at.
