Gaming has been lighter than my long-term 'normal'. These last few weeks have been real life heavy and this last week was no exception. Real life takes away from gaming, not a lot that can be done about that.
Of the games I've been in this last week has mainly seen Stardew Valley and Planet Crafter (as both have had massive patches); Adding in the usual Star Trek Online dailies and a small smattering of Eve Online.
I've also watched and enjoyed the Fallout tv series and found it to be indeed very good. As TV adaptations of games go it's phenomenal. It's got Easter eggs galore for gamers; All done well. It's as Fallout as any game's been. After watching the series I was more tempted to buy Fallout New Vegas than return to Fallout 4(lots posted here about all that kind of game-play). Time will tell.
It's interesting to see the Fallout 4 details about it's upcoming updates. So I'll be back to the game when that patch(s) hits at the end of the month.
There was another Mass Effect '5' article; While I'm interested to know more I've not real interest to have a 5th game(yet). https://www.gamesradar.com/mass-effect-5-guide/
Star Trek Online has been enjoyable in it's doing(as ever for me); If I wasn't into the game I'd not be in it never mind play it. It's Star Trek, maybe most things to most players who are Trek fans.
Event dailies and endeavors being the main drivers of actual gameplay.
The first contact day event isn't the worst event, its lack of a hard fail state is both good and bad, but it's all about participation (and the reward)..... Besides doing the Synth Wave TFO as the alternative for the daily isn't an option for me as I and that TFO do not gel. Pug groups in my experience with it are painful(changes to improve the TFO or not).
The Delta recruit 'event' is active but having long since created my trio of Delta's on both PC and Xbox there's no need for me to redo any(unlike my KDF recruit fetish endeavour perk fixation).
Stardew Valley has seen me 'do' most of the 1.6 content. Upgrading, building and refining the farm as well as doing island content that I'd skipped previously. The only 'task' I'd like to do is to replace all the tree tappers with the heavy versions but it's not a 'need'. More pottering about to do yet. That and get a combat fairy trinket.
Planet Crafter saw it's 1.0 release; And with that came a slew of changes and additions.
It's been no surprise that when a patch comes out the biggest change to the previous iteration would be to terrain. I've been lucky in the past where that had been concerned. With this patch is came back with a vengeance.
My Lush Valley 'base' was completely 'tree'd'. 50% was claimed by the tree and blocked access to the rest of the base never mind enveloping lockers etc.
The surrounding area of the base was massively changed. My launch pad and rocket was swallowed in a cliff face.
The Stargate area where my base is was also affected. The base was fine but the desert area around the far side of the crashed 'gate' was also in a rock face.
To help remedy this situation I took stock of what was changed and how it affected my setup's; Loaded up my side PC in offline mode so that it didn't do the patch. Then on that PC moved what needed to be changed and relocated etc..... Then back to online and let the save sync back up.
The Lush Valley base was one I tore down and put into temporary storage till I can use/decide what to do with those resources....
It took a while but glad to have things 'sorted'.
The new areas are nice despite my base being overrun.
While it was fun to see my wife play the map that she's seen me on so much, I think the best co-op option(for us) is with Stardew. Time will tell if 'we' start a new map 'together'.
Some additions to the game are not of use to me having played since early in the games development.
With the patch the transformation went past the mammals phase and to 100% complete.
The mammals phase and it's working are not as interesting when the terraformation % isn't at stake. Still in doing all the 'new' content the genetics and mammals are the least interesting to me. The new exploration areas are much more interesting.
