Posted (14/03/2025)Non-gaming real world waffle.....
Ah yes here again, The final days of my mothers house renovation...... Longer than it should have been and in the last few days seemingly even longer. Not that I really mind. My very "first world" hassle/problem is that of an old gaming laptop and a slow/intermittent internet connection. My mam seems to be having a good holiday staying in my house, so it's all good.. The actual works being worked on are free for my mother via government schemes under another government scheme that acts as project management to tie it all together. Thank you Irish social democracy.... I go on about it because it really is the state giving back.... Just another way in a dozen to shake a stick at and talk about. Not that certain political parties say that anything is too little or not enough; but then again they will promise a rainbow pony to all if they "get in", till they do get into power and then blame the other party for doing and not doing what they promised...... Not that any party in the state is perfect or by reflection the state itself. Young as it is it's a constantly developing living thing; It's not meant to be perfect but always striving to be (ideally) for the citizens of the day.... Still it's a country looking after those citizens.....
Anyway.... I should waffle about my last week in gaming but here I am mid-ish week waffling about anything but.... Another post delayed again......
Like my last few posts the gift that keeps on giving for political viewing really is the current state of the 'states'; But such a clusterfk is only entertaining till it's dangerous and it's well passed that line. Again as I commented in previous posts each new 'thing' turns it up a notch, and then some. Beyond sad to see in many ways. Never mind how "they" treat certain countries.... Mexico, Canada and Ukraine(or anyting in sight). Trumps America this time round really is something else.
The US really voted against a UN international day of hope.....
I guess the US can't have it's own national Day of Hope upstaged.
Funny(not ha ha funny....) that Canada's new PM will be Carney; Funny given comments politicians have made deriding him(by the lettuce no less) over the Brexit years as he had been warning them. Funny also that he holds Irish citizenship...... A Mayo man, nobody's perfect eh. But it seems that the new PM will be renouncing his other non Canadian citizenship's as he will be the Prime Minister. That's a good gesture of note; But I guess his political rivals can't now make hay of it either....
After looking at the number of youtube channels I'm subbed to, a lot are regarding politics and current events; Never mind adjacent subjects. Many are commentaries about facts and considerations, but what to share as a starting point? Many channels watched over time following certain events(start of Brexit being the main), that also over time have folded in other aspects of 'current events'. So much crossover. The more watched the more it all accumulates and in need of a bit of a cull. So today, what would I share from the list for someone to watch and keep informed.... As a baseline........Try these:
