Totally unravelled....
Just over a year ago I posted about my interest in the game Unravel. Time is telling.
While I never went rushing to get the game about 2 month's ago I did see a demo version on the Origin client. Even seeing it there and downloading it I didn't touch it for a few weeks. I do have the excuse of priorities elsewhere but they have greatly reduced since this weekend gone.
Unravel has everything I should like in a game; Interesting mechanics and their use to overcome puzzles; A meaningful storyline narrative that some would say is expertly crafted with emotional connections in both story and main character. Yet I've only been able to bring myself to play a few minutes of the game on two occasions. If the proof is in the pudding then I have to say that despite all the positives it's not a game I can play. I'm not a big fan of platformers but with a compelling story and game mechanics I thought I'd have no problem with playing and enjoying this game.
I can't really explain why I'm not hooked into playing it. Motivation or focus?
Gamer fatigue? Yet I'm playing other games and grinding dailies in others.
I'm not the only one with this type of "problem"....

Unravel
I'm not a massive fan of any kind of platform game. Some of those games can be fun. It really depends on the level design and story. Complex and fun is good, but they are not all like that.
It's the frustration levels that really get me. I don't want to play a game that frustrates so much that I then throw the mouse, keyboard or controller at the screen.
Having said all that I am interested in the game Unravel. I saw a trailer for it during it's launch and despite the look and the main character I never delved any further. I've given it a second look and although I haven't been pushed to purchase it yet I think it will sit on the back burner and grow on me. Time will tell.
