I've been enjoying the questing, taking my time with it all. Hunter solo and the warlock with my wife's main mage. I've one more day of game time left from the expansion purchase. Doesn't seem that long since launch.
I'm finding the new big bad of the expansion, less and less serious to take; It's the lil'T-Rex arms.... They make me laugh no matter how serious or dramatic the scene. Maybe the more serious the scene the more the looks are comical.
Maybe it's the way Relam phasing is done regarding players but there seems to be very few roaming around. The max I've seen in one place is 5. While I'm glad for the shared drops/nodes mined even if there're already tagged or being collected by another player.... There just seems to be a lot less players in general. Those that do cross my path doing similar questing don't seem to get or know about the sharing of tagged mobs/loot. I've seen players either let players do mobs first as if waiting their turn. Has the game become more distrusting of co-op play from random players. Anyway I've been away form the game long enough to wonder if it's them or me. Either way, life on the Dragon Isles is a lot slower. I don't mind that at all.
The main story line is so far more involved and interesting as a player than previous expansions I've played; At least it seems so.
Of the new dungeons the worst I've come across so far is The Nokhud Offensive. An outdoor dungeon filled with annoying enemies and mechanics that horrendous to follow. I've only done it a few times; I'm pretty good on picking up on new dungeon mechanic do's and dont's but that dungeon is a mess. No wonder my old guildie and solo mythic good guy tank curses it.
The flying races are a nice distraction and the dragon flying overall is a better way to do flying in an expansion than any achievement. It's fun!
I've not touched pets/pet battles in a long time but adding another quest reward pet I saw the total number(no other reason than it seemed noteworthy).
As for the nostalgia; The current realm my 'mains' are on hasn't always been my 'main' realm. I've been horde for the bulk of my overall time in wow but I started with a friend many moons ago as a Druid for the Alliance. The connection is that when a different friend rejoined the game he was on my current Horde realm and it was with a charterer transfer from Alliance that my Horde life started. My current Orc Hunter main was once an Alliance Dwarf. Who was originally a level 19 PvP twink. A hunter needing bullets and mana.... Imagine! With no hold on XP back in the day he eventually dinged.
For some reason I've been constantly reminded of those facts. The pre expansion event in Northern Barrens was that Dwarfs old haunt, fishing deviates etc. Emoting to Horde 'enemies' who were also fishing. I stuck with the PvP on him farming PvP at 60, seems so long ago yet not that many years. So leveling up the Orc in the pre exp event maybe it's no wonder, circles in circles. I kind of miss old AV battles. Long, strategic resources and with bitter enemy battles. Thinking about it realm based PvP servers were a lot more hardcore. Anyway enough waffle.....
