The more things change the more they stay the same. Star Trek Online on PC and Xbox has been and is that very saying. So much has happened since I last posted yet not all that much new and news worthy(more this than that).
Events have ended and others started. Free items have come and gone in game and out.
Q's Winter Wonderland is currently ongoing for the month. While I'm not all that into the reward ship which I'll do dailies for and claim; The new Breen space set is of interest. So much so that I created a Vanguard Jem'Hadar (Eng) to use as a CosPlay Breen.... I already have the previous free Breen ships. So it made sense to have such a 'project'. As they start at level 60 getting 5 levels didn't take long(on Nimbus) and before I knew it I had the start mission to claim the mission reward Breen set. Which I'll do in the coming week. With enough currency already I was able to buy the new event set as well as the warp core to go with the mission set...I've even got spare (free)Lobi to buy the Breen outfit. I'm sure I claimed it when it was in the Winter store in 2019 but maybe not, as it's not listed in the wardrobe. I'll also do the missions to get the Breen bridge officer(even if the rest are like my character 'just' in the uniform). It's all in motion. Motivation in an objective.
Call me crazy but the Xbox version is still a playable draw to me. Same game but different. More accessible imho. A game to hop in and out of for extra STO fun.
That's not to say a player can't take it as seriously as on PC; But the console playerbase from what I've seen is more clueless lax "casual". Who am I to talk, casual complaining about super casual players. At least in my causalness I actually 'play'.... Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway.
Speaking of console I decided to use some previous campaign rewards to buy some ships there. For no other reason than I could. I'm a lot more casual with the Xbox version so spending currency and seeing it as a testbed for items...... Casual of casual (not lax). Research for ships there is more in first hand experience than than on PC where the internet, youtube and considered opinions are looked into. STO Xbox is more 'fun' in doing than anything else. Which I've been doing.
That said it's good to take advantage of the games freebies when they are free.
As for the ships I splurged the free currency on, a Tzenkethi Tzen-tar Dreadnought Carrier. It's a big ship and from what I've seen a YouTuber or two do with them 'good'. If you gotta go big you may as well go all out. It should be 'interesting' to fly.
As shiz-fit as it may be at the moment I've not undocked in it yet. Not even to test pilot. Maybe in the coming week.
The ship she(my main) is currently flying is just as not thought out. The other ship I got; Terran Lexington dreadnought Cruiser.
I even went somewhat thematic with it.
That's not to say I'm using it properly, not at all. It's a good ship, a bit slow for my personal taste but it's beefy. As they say, 'a change is as good as a rest'.
A friend (I've spoken about (him and Arma 3)); Has started to play STO. It seems to have taken with him. Which is good. His gaming 'clan' is not just Arma but multi-game which should also be interesting, if some of them also partake. Maybe it'll just be me and him or maybe it'll be a few others. Time will tell.
Speaking of being thematic; I found two players with style. Guy and Riddick. If you know you know. Kudos.
