Sociable Soccer 23 is a release announcement that comes not so hot on the heels of it's 2022 announcement that comes not so hot on the heels of it's 2021 announcement...... Yea you get the idea I'm not so sure it's sure it knows what a release date is.
I've watched this game for a while, a game that seems to 'tick the boxes' for me; But dámn does it make it hard to 'like' from afar. My skepticism for what I read is born of the devs inconsistency when they(he) says anything at all.
I can part excuse all that by how bumpy it's development has and is or seems, with slatherings of poor communication faux pas throughout. Harsh but true all the same. Dates and announcements matter, never mind actually delivering. Never mind developing a game for PC then bending over for Apple as they wave cash...... I'm not bitter! I get it, small dev team rolling with the punches to get the cash to develop to get the cash to do development etc.etc. From Steam early access to no longer on steam, to here there and yonder to Apple. All circles and roundabouts. The latest release on Apple seems to be an actual realized game. One worthy of playing. I can only hope the new PC release(coming soon TM #relatively) is worthy of the waiting wait after the wait.
Doubts fester but hope springs eternal. When it does release on Steam(again) I'll be leaving it a week or two( or three or four) and judge it on it's release reviews. Nothing more harsh than the unwashed maddening public crowd to rip apart a developers hopes and dreams in milliseconds. Bucket of salt on standby.
If it lives up to it's "Fast, intuitive gameplay" description I'll be more than interested. Given the games long-term history I can only hope that further time/money this time round moves it's forthcoming PC releases into the really will be worth it category of actuality; And that it's a game that stays on the platform this time.
