October around the corner....

And it's gone.....

Blink and a month goes buy, blink again and half the year is gone.... Wasn't it just March.... Now it's almost October.....November....   Happy Halloween!

Despite real life being real life, I'm glad that the gaming does go on.

It seems Microsoft is throwing in the towel for cloud gaming. At limited hours a month for Game Pass subscribers streaming games, seems a bit limiting.... But if users aren't using it then why keep it around.  I'm a user who never uses it. Steam by comparison is free and I've not streamed any gaming via it's infrastructure, other than a test or two for the sake of it. Most of the time it was 'ok' at home but go mobile and it was awful.  I'm biased but it does seem that streaming is not the future some people want it to be for gaming... I wonder what the stats are on Amazon Luna.... especially now it's dropped a lot of 3rd party publishers(GoG etc).

I'm already loving the disc to game license for Xbox One games.

The Xbox 25th Anniversary Console does look good. I don't need it, I don't need it at all..... I know I won't get it; But my heart does really, really want it.....

The Steam Machine has lost of of it's steam, interesting to see but I'm happy wiht my Steam Deck as a perma-docked addition under my TV. Still as some stage I'd like to get the Steam Controller and the VR headset does look interesting....

World of Warcraft is still not floating my boat. As good as the guild my wife is an officer in is; As good as those officers and the GM are(helping, accommodating etc). I'm not feeling the joy in any form with the gameplay. What little gameplay I am engaging with has only reinforced my old (bitter vet)biases for the game. The grind, the ilevel chase, enduring caustic individuals, leetism and resulting drama etc etc.

That said I've still claimed any twitch items and keep an eye on the coming game changes/patches etc.

WoW Forever may be good, I'll see closer to the end of my current Sub date when I can play it. The proof is in the pudding after all, time will indeed tell.

Sad to see Bioware close. It's early days where my gaming jam.

The shenanigans with regard to Marathon and Ubisoft canning Destiny then realizing the mistake not only of Marathon but of canning Destiny.... Destiny's return seems like a good thing for it's community. Interesting to see as an outsider.

Tabletop Tavern, A game I've culled from my wishlist(again?), has been culled for good this time.

But

TheXPGamers showed off a demo of a Merc Commander like game. An off brand clone what feels the same. Good to see it in action and the demo is calling me back to mess about with; And that game was added to the Wishlist.....

The Thief remaster of the original Thief (not the newer Thief game called Thief) is interesting but the more I see of it the more I still think the Gold edition is the better more authentic version to play. Retro bias on my part.

My last post and news of the remake make me all nostalgic for the old cut-scenes of the game. Worth sharing again.

Speaking of older game remakes, System Shock 2's remake is going was free on the Epic store next week. Good to see and in turn got me all nostalgic again.

Like thief the older relaunches of the game still work and it's good that they do as I've still got the old saves from both back in the day. Great to revisit. I've waffled on the blog about that.

System Shock 2's music is also nostalgic for me.

Aerolicious has simple mechanics and a tech/upgrade tree, but is so very enjoyable in it's compelling block shooting gameplay. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4774170/Aerolicious/

I bought it after seeing this gameplay.

After looking up Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2's DLC being all cosmetic I took the sale plunge and got the game. I've not played much of it in the last week but the graphics are stunning.

A game I think I'll play better with a controller than keyboard and mouse.

Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown, is a game I've had my eye on with some youtuber playthroughs and as much as I like what I've seen of the gameplay/mechanics; I know it's a game I'd get than let sit on the back burner. So I'll steer clear of for the foreseeable.

One Trek game I am keeping a real eye on is Star Trek: Outposts Unknown

The Official 'Kourou' Planet Gameplay Reveal was interesting.

Dave the Diver is a game I've floated away from. Newer content and DLC is not floating my boat at all.

Hitman (III / WoA) has had some more twitch items....

For actual gameplay I've been doing some(small) amount of unlock hunting....

No Mans Sky at 10 years old is too much game now.... The extent and amount of free content is overwhelming.

Euro Truck Sim 2 is seeing a lot of patches and new content which is not as overwhelming but seems to have settled into a nice rhythm. I've been enjoying a lot of the game.

I do still wish the old Chrimbo cargo was still available.

That said the new art stle is very nice. https://blog.scssoft.com/2026/10/return-to-brackenreach-event.html

The Halloween event as usual was enjoyable and a good time to see how my in game company is responding to game changes...

The new in game, game radio channels are really well done.

The upcoming coaches addition to the game will be a real game-changer.

SCS Software

ETS2 being so active always makes me knock Star Trucker off the to play list......

Hard to believe that it's a game that is already on it's 2nd anniversary!

Darkest Dungeon: The Fire's Edge DLC/update is great to see and play. The new hero types are very good. The new trinkets are not of interest but at the end game on all three of my Hamlets I've no real need for anything. Sill good to be back and mess about with the saves and the game overall.

The 'Java' modern fan build of the classic Imperium Galactica is still going and improvements are great to see. A game I played so much of back in the day. It got a GoG release which I did buy but this fan rebuild adds so much more.

Speaking of older classics. Defender of the Crown The Legend Returns, is a repackage/remake of another classic from way back in the day. I first came across it getting a second hand lot of Disc games for my  C64c in the early 90's. Yea I'm old. Great to see and play.

 Star Trek Online....

Sill a staple of my daily gaming.

Events both story and holiday have come and gone. Rewards claimed and campaigns completed(PC and Xbox). So no fear in saying that I am indeed 'into' the game.

A last recruit event gave my Playstation account the last character type I needed to covber all the recruit types. Now just to play the game....

The updates go on.....

My most recent chatterer on both PC and Xbox is a themed character, the Hunters form DSN. Now all complete with them sitting in the Lobi bought Husnock warship

On Playstation it's been easy to see/get some achievements/challenges. Nice to be a low level account again.....( I have a problem?)...

Another game that has some good content and upcoming details.

The real-world details of the STO company management is interesting. Not as dire as some would say.

The Winter event should see the Tarellian ship as the main reward. Interesting visuals.

My Rebel Galaxy Outlaw run on Xbox was swift and fun. After playing it a lot on PC a while ago... I knew where things were and how best to do things.

Once again the music in the game, it's radio stations and menu music is epic.

Planet Crafter has had some updates and it's last DLC was another good moon(Skeo Moon). I look forward to their next content.

Ball-X-Pit had new DLC that was great to blow through. Roll on the next big content expansion.

Eve Online has still seen me 100% Alpha on all accounts; I'm still not paying for the game. I do wish they would return the omega with 2xMCT. I'd be all over that. Yet it seems they are very much into the little and often monetization. Of which I do dislike the gamification of in game store and subscriptions. Buy plex to buy something else to buy something else that allows access to something like Omega.... I thought they didn't like the gamification of monetization..... But as it's them doing it I guess they no longer care.

So I am all Alpha all the time. I will be using the end of the current Crimson Harvest daily logins to get a few accounts the weekend packs and retroactively claim the omega rewards. Does that make me a hypocrite.... Maybe but gotta use the tools the game gives me to actually play the game.

New H.U.D. is incoming and we'll have to see about that in action.
Overall the next expansion on the 10th Nov will be 'interesting' in regard to seeing how players take the changes if nothing else.

The free goodies for Totality Day were well received by me my alt and I. Mainly for the unexpected PLEX.

The Gravity-Defying Future of Manufacturing. Long way off home use but very interesting.
