Guild of Dungeoneering....

It's been a while since I took some time in Guild of Dungeoneering. So I'm not sure it it was being so long away from the game or that a lot has changed; But I found myself having to recheck stats and abilities. Still had a few good adventures and fights......

Guild of Dungeoneering....

It's been a while since I last visited the Guild of Dungeoneering. Browsing the GoG store for games on sale I saw the game, clicked in and did a dungeon....

Another game I'm rusty at but for that dungeon run the Mime was the wrong choice in the end. A more melee character would have done better.

I like the game, it's style and content and as I said last time I was in the game it's not the games fault I've not been back to it. It just seems to be my way with it.... Do dungeon, forget game for month's, oh look Guild of Dungeoneering!

A fun game and going cheap; Currently available on GoG.com for €4.99

Guild of Dungeoneering....

Guild of Dungeoneering. A game I'd forgotten I still had installed. Another game I've not played in a long time. Not that that's the games fault.

A quick return to the game on rediscovering it lead to some unlikely victories and a good bit of fun. What more could I ask for. Fun is key.

And in doing so a new trophy (Black Knights helmet) for show.

Not a bad revisit. But with so many games needing attention I think poor 'ol Guild of Dungeoneering will fall to the wayside again.

I'll have the main theme song stuck in head now....

Guild of Dungeoneering....

Guild of Dungeoneering has been a game I've had on my radar since the middle of last year. It first came out in July of 2015. While it peeked my interest I never did a deep dive into really checking it out. That is until I got an e-mail from gog.com during the week where I saw it listed as a deluxe edition bundle for a discounted price. The base game, both expansions and the soundtrack were part of that bundle. It was enough to make me look up more details about the game.

In considering to buy it I looked up a few online thoughts on the game(like this), there have been a lot of updates to the game since it first released, like patches and the content packs/expansions.
It was this lets play that let me see what I would be really buying and I liked what I saw.

The hand drawn style and the music/narration is a great style that adds a lot to both the games atmosphere and the way you face the game.
So with the research done and the discount deal slowly counting down I purchased it and I'm happy to say that I've not been bitten by any buyers remorse.

I have to say that this game is by far the hardest tutorial I've played in years. The RNG was not favourable and in many ways is much more harsh than in Darkest Dungeon and that is saying something. I've felt more loss with my Darkest Dungeon characters dieing off but this game takes a different viewpoint.
It took me 5 dead chumps to get past the second mob of the tutorial/starter dungeon.
Like I said the RNG can be harsh. A bad streak can add to the frustration. Thankfully that is mitigated by both keeping that in mind(that it is RNG) and the humour levels of the game.

Where the Darkest Dungeon takes itself 99+% serious, Guild of Dungeoneering is very tongue in cheek with a less than 1% seriousness level and I love that.

Having this and Darkest Dungeon makes me feel like I now have both sides of my dungeon crawling gold coin.
It's a game I can recommend (at a discount) but it's not as easy as it looks on the outside.
