Hotshot Racing....

Hotshot Racing has a lot of the same art style looks as Horizon Chase Turbo; That's the main reason Hotshot took my attention. They may look similar but besides some race modes that's where the similarities end. The differences are subtle but there. Those differences make me lean more towards liking Horizon Chase Turbo more than Hotshot. Turbo is a more forgiving game imho Hotshot is aggressive and if you're forced off the track it's harder to get back in position without restarting the race. Those A.I. cars in Hotshot really don't take prisoners.

Whereas Turbo has fuel consumption that you only need to cast half an eye on; Hotshot has a 30 second ticking clock pretty much in your face and checkpoints to pressure you. Another mechanic(pun intended) that makes me lean towards Turbo again..

Not to mention the tempo of the music ratcheting up in Hotshot when the laps tick down; But I kind of like that.

Hotshot has some fun driver characters, replete with cartoonish stereotypical fun and cheesy one liners. They do add a lot to the game.

The cars in Hotshot feel very different based on their stats. That's both good and bad imho. I'd again lean back to Horizon's more subtle car handling and greater car modification system.

Glad I got to try the game but even more glad I own Turbo.

Horizon Chase Turbo....

It's been a game I've neglected for a while(a year since I last posted). I've seen and read about it's updates/special events but I never really got back to it(currently 75% off on steam). The last week and some insomnia proved motivation enough to faff about with it again. A new mode for beginners was introduced as a free dlc. I'd not seen or taken part in it before so it proved easy fun given the circumstances.

The game is still as fun as I remembered from the start; This new 'easy' content is super easy. What threw me so far was a new(new to me) track in Greece, Santorini. Not that I didn't win, just the track textures make me cross eyed....

A power house and epic looking to boot. A bit too powerful for it's own good!!
It handles like a dead weight. A specific car for specific tracks, I just haven't found any of those tracks yet....

And as for fuel it's a hog, there's not enough to keep it going on any track....

Horizon Chase Turbo....

Still enjoying quick fun with the game, 10 minutes is a long time so it's easy to hop in and out of. There's a pull to play when you feel the need to do better; So getting 3rd place makes you want to try for better. Doing a late night quick, one more go attempt at a race started off as a disaster; And pretty much stayed that way. In watching it back I think I was more racing my old ghost take of the track than paying attention to the current race..... Still I got to clinch the win in the end.... I'll take it!

Horizon Chase Turbo....

I never knew there was a mobile game called Horizon Chase (still available); Then again I avoid most apps that have in app purchases. I never knew there was a version of for PC called Horizon Chase Turbo and it's been out a while. But while watching the youtubes, a youtuber was using the game as background footage and it immediately sparked my interest. Turns out there is a Demo on Steam (woooooooow a real demo!!!). I used to love demo discs. Anyway, demo played and I love the game.

A great retro feel but not too retro, simple enough racer to get into with some minor collectibles and perks to reach /unlock. A great fun game. The steam reviews are mainly positive with mixed reviews naming the games difficulty as cons when they should just be listed as design choices made to be difficult; Like narrow track sections. I'm sure there are frustrations in the game with the A.I. "cheating" or unlucky/unforgiving mechanics. But the fun factor is high. I doubt anyone is really getting this game to go 100% master Yoda on it. Fun for fun is good. Split screen party game....
