Maybe it's the art style but the game keeps reminding me of a cross between Slime Rancher, No Mans Sky and the space cowboy bottom dollar corporate theme of Outer Worlds(and others), with a lot of slapstick humour.
I've kept an eye on Journey to the Savage Planet; seen some minor game-play on youtube, not a lot as I didn't want to spoil things. But in the last year it's faded off my radar.
It's only the last week or so that I've seen it as one of the games available to play through Gamepass Ultimate. After a good few hours played I can say I really do like the game. It's a boarder-line game I find does enough to be different but is still a familiar amalgamation of play-styles, looks and themes that all work well. Plus I really like it's humour.
My only real problem with the game is that I find I'm hampered by it being a controller only Xbox game(free is free but.....). Unfortunately it's only available through Ultimate for Xbox(*). To play on PC would need a purchase. Which is a pity.
I'm usually not a fan of platforming first person games; And although this one seems to be an interesting take, the game isn't screaming buy me.... Even on a -40% Steam sale.
Besides the control method I can't see what else is stopping me from getting the game. Can't put my finder on that. Might just be disinterest or better titles coming....
I have way to many games on the 'to play' list as it is. So as good an excuse as any to knock it on the head.
