Gaming....
Euro Truck Sim 2 has a million more players than Stardew Valley...
Subnautica has as many players as This War of Mine...
Torchlight II has 5 million players!
Maybe my gaming habits aren't that niche after all!

Stardew Valley....
Progress in Stardew Valley takes time, even in co-op. It's a real world time sink like no other, maybe more so in co-op. Thankfully my old single player save still has a lot going for it. Heaps of gold for sure but primarily because it's all done. Process's are setup and work well. I'd say it's more than complete as a playthrough. Getting back into that save lets me see whats changed on a higher level and to update some farm items. Like installing a gatherer that milks the cows, goats and sheers the sheep. Now if there were only a machine for the chickens, ducks and rabbits....
Also having a house built for the mother-in-law...
It took many many day's of truffle sales and a final push on a chest clear-out to gather the gold needed to get the house.
One more thing ticked off the small list of remaining things to do. Not sure what's next... The Night Market maybe but that's a while away in game time....
P.S.
Gold in co-op is so slow to accumulate. At least in the start. As co-op shares the gold wallet it's lead to some interesting conversations. Questions and accusations, cover stories and alibis..... "did you just buy something!"
Hitman....
The Surgeons will be the reactivated elusive targets this Friday. Will it be another blood bath playthrough? I'm not sure. But I think I do need it done well to get an achievement.... I'll have to check that. So maybe I'll approach this with a surgical touch.... Hardy har har.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole....
The new and last DLC of the game has indeed proved to be as entertaining as the last. Even if it is just as short. I think the length of the DLC's is compounded when playing one straight after the other. Over all too soon.
After the end boss fight I hung around to finish up one or two other bits; But like the main game I decided to not bother with the rest. Grind for the sake of it leading to no future benefit isn't my thing. So like the remaining yaoi art posters in the main game, the remaining camp merit badges have been ignored.
I've enjoyed the DLC, a great addition, entertaining with enough challenge to appease most gamers.
South Park is South Park.

Eve Online....
I've been doin it again.... More AFK mining....
AFK mining while playing Co-op Stardew Valley with my wife. Great bank holiday weekend!
Ore for isk, not much isk, but enough isk for most T1 modules and some ships.
T1 is a core staple of Eve online Alpha's in my view, for ships and fits that is. Ships to spin and fits to faff with. A section of the game that's a game in it's own right. I still place value in level 4 T1 modules as a mainstay of my Alpha characters. Cheap and effective. T2 upgrades as isk allows etc.
I've been purposefully ignoring my old Omega characters and associated alts. The new Alpha's were made to be true(er?) Alpha's. with no assistance. Game-play method in the madness.
My "main" PvE (Alpha) character is now part of a casual mission running tax haven corp. One that has a very casual chill solo and help if you want to/can mantra. That character's hauler alt is still in an NPC corp. And another alt on that account has no other task than to soak up the free skills and faff about in an older corp that my main used to be in. Just to maintain contact with that corp's CEO(corp fell apart due to persistant hi-sec ganking war dec's).
I've resurrected my PvP Alpha alter ego. With CVA getting ownership of Provi back I've been mulling moving him to a corp in Provi. Mainly to do some belt ratting and oddly enough mining. I've always found Provi life enjoyable and a good isk earner...
I guess I'm back in the game...?

BF1....
FPS games are a breed with many niche variations. From authentic and accurate to cartoony and slapstick, and all that's in-between and then some.
BF1 as an authentic immersive game and sits on top of the pile of current first person shooters because of that, at least for me. Some game modes/mechanics can lead to frustrations but it does a lot more right than it gets wrong. The sound and visuals as battle rages makes for an amazing atmosphere.
I've turned down a lot of the ultra visual settings to assist my PvP time. I'm sure that more serious BF1 experts have a certain settings level that in a way games the game. Like tweaking the graphic levels to a point where smoke is no longer a block to visibility.
From what I've seen, the general PvP "optimal" settings for Nvidia cards include:
- Everything on LOW except Mesh Quality, set that to Ultra.
- Go to Nvidia control panel, set digital vibrance from desktop color settings to 70.
- Set in-game brightness to 60 percent.
I may want to do well in a match but I play as much for the experience as for the kill to death ratio.
The optimal PvP graphical settings take away as much from the game as a match lost to a steamrolling crew.
Last night I had a great match, it didn't involve many kills or death's but it had action and I enjoyed it. A great all rounder:
South Park....
After reloading my last save I went straight to the DLC bus stop; The first message to greet me was that any items earned from the DLC would also be available/usable in other saves.
This got me thinking, as I'd lost my previous DLC saves I'd have none of it's items or upgrades. Granted I don't remember if there was anything really useful but I did miss the top hat look. A reverse course was needed and off to redo the Casa Bonita DLC I went.
Redoing it this time felt a lot shorter than I remembered from last time. No great hardships in the DLC and it still had some entertainment value. South Park is South Park after all.
I did get some extra items and a whole lot of costumes. I only got to swap out one artifact.
On to the next....

Tharsis....
I've not been back to Tharsis in a while; But as it was installed on the laptop already, sure why not.
A game of dice and random actions, RNG x RNG = Kobayashi Maru and then some.
I'm no fan of massive amounts of RNG, but this game pulls it off as credible gameplay, even in failure.

New Eden....
Interesting to see the Chinese server moving forward, not that I ever intend to use it, good to see the mirror universe/alternative time line version of the universe progress.
I have more interest to see the mobile game/app news. Not so much Project Galaxy; But it's Project Aurora that has my curiosity....

More gaming....
The last few day's has seen a lot of games and additional content being released. The most recent for me has been:
SOUTH PARK: THE FRACTURED BUT WHOLE - Bring the Crunch DLC - July 31
&
Stardew Valley Multiplayer Update - Aug 1st
Unfortunately for me, my older online saves for South Park overwrote my newer local saves from the last DLC. No great loss but it's a pity. I might replay it at some stage; But the newer DLC first.
As for Stardew, I've gotten to play on a farm my wife created. So we'll have some co-op play with that over the coming month's. I'd like to co-op on a version of my own farm but I think for longevity and fun, playing on a version of a complete map/farm would only be a shorter experience.

Waffle....
I used to mumble/complain about gaming away from home due to "having" to use my laptop and lack of hardwired internet. Such a pain using an Alienware m18x, what hardship!! Yea yea I'm being a sarcastic áss.
But the real pain is ongoing in the form of my laptops missing S key. Missing because I removed it.
It was constantly spewing s's all over the place. Removing it showed the irreparable damage to the switch/membrane beneath. It's a pain to use because typing a blog using a shortcut key to paste all the s's's's's isn't a fun typing experience. At least removing the key and it's broken 'switch' stopped it from spewing s's. Self inflicted pain. Dell have no spares given the age of the laptop (it's not that old but still). E-bay is proving a hassle.
Far too many s's needed to type all this out.... Verbo*ity at it'* be*t, or *hould that be it'* wro*t.

Eve Online....
I've not been back to Eve Online actively in a long long time.
When I've gone back it's only to see what freebies there were(like seeing no chrimbo gifts, the return of mystery code for a moment or items for triglavian access (probably because nobody was going to triglavian space?)). Or to see whats changed after a patch. Even at that I just log in, poke a menu or two and log off. Otherwise I log in for old times sake to see the characters, ship spin for a moment etc. Nostalgia more than anything else I suppose. But the last two day's has seen me log in an old Alpha alt for no other reason than to afk mine in hi-sec with a venture, as I both watched YouTube and played another game. No reason in that.... No idea why....
I've been watching more youtubez about Eve on late. Maybe that's it; Maybe it's time to get the Alpha's back in action properly.... Decisions, decisions.
