Dust to dust.....
More Dust 514 was had over the weekend. Although I have to say the passive nature of the skill points and the daily bonus sp each day is my major draw to the game. Another 2 days and I'll have the max sp bonus... I presume this is then reset for a new "week". My interest in this will wain once the first weeks bonus has been completed.
Game play on a few matches again devolved into being camped at objective choke & spawn points.
With my gaining of sp I seem to have opened up extra gaming modes, or maybe this is just the way it's worked out for me. A deathmatch like mode and a larger team domination (5 points instead of 3) mode seem to be common to my games now. I would hazard a guess that it is also due to what contracts are up at any given time. Randomness and available players being key.
I started to use the permanent gear I was given and I've been checking the other militia gear but I've yet to settle into fits... some of the weapons are not to my liking.
Changing my tv to have a custom picture mode, has helped the graphics. I changed the brightness / contrast and colour depth. This all looks horrible on viewing anything else, but at least the game looks better/clearer. I just need to change this mode back before turning the ps3 off...
Digging around the blogs and online resources, the last year seems to have seen a lot of them die off. Now that I have the game and can ask detailed questions I am running into blogs and posts that are all 1 year old or older.
One Dust blog I came across relatively early on in my interest in Dust is dustmercs.blogspot.com/. Of it's posts this year there are 3 about eve politics & happenings / 2 dust related / 5 fan fiction entries.
Another done by a member of the CPM, http://hansshotfirst.blogspot.com/ had it's last post dated last October (yes 2013).
With the likes of those two sites being at what I would term as "the heart of the community" it does not bode well.... at least dustsearch.com/ is active.....
This game has the potential to be a game changer, there isn't much I can say that hasnt' been said by the Internet pundits before.
I dont' think it was worth buying a PS3 for .... not really. On the up side I now have a new blu-ray/media player to use ...... that's not bad at all. plenty of options ;-p
I can also play a small back catalogue for cheap....
I can say a lot more to try and justify the move to buy it.... in the end I got what I wanted but the game is a let down.
I can see myself messing about with this game in a very casual manner from here on in.
With it being the same universe as Eve it will always have an inkling of interest for me.
My friend that plays Dust has been AFK for this whole experience but I've got an application in to his corp.
I'll play this game for occasional shiz and giggles probably with my friend and his crew.
I'll play this game when new things come out and I have a million passive sp gained.
Lets see what fanfest brings to the Dust side of the universe.
P.S. I might just do one more blog about using the keyboard & mouse with the PS3 for playing Dust.....
