More Eve news....

Eve Hermits latest post had some good links (Driftersites & winning Eve), all good reading.

The dev blog about the Drifters was interesting and I'm sure there are much more ambitious changes to come that will alter multiple aspects of all pod pilot lives.

I'm really glad that CCP is taking the feedback about the UI icons and making some more good changes to help clear things up with the current implementation.

The new art work in progress dev blog was interesting but I have to agree with this blog that the complete redo of the Thrasher removes all nostalgia, it is not a good redesign at all. On the other hand I am liking the new Dominix and the way they are going about doing it. The other designs also look good and show updated models without taking away the essence of the old design.

The missile "balance" changes are another area of interest, with luck it will be implemented and bring a better realm of dps for all(my characters). Time will tell if my old trusted fits will have to be reworked.

The last o7 Show brought up a storm (in a teacup imho) for the more pvp inclined (fleet warping) and CCP have stated this in reply to the most asked questions.

Wow patch 6.2 thoughts after day one....

While I should go through the main points on the new patch in detail I'll cut it short and say that I'm disappointed with the patch.
Both myself and the missus took out main's, my hunter and her mage. I found it a very frustrating experience. On my hunter I died twice due to pulling to many mobs/getting respawns on top of respawns. Barrage on my hunter does not help ;-p
The missus on her Mage would have been in a much worse position with survivability despite her dps if I wasn't there to tank with my pet.
Yes it provides new content but it does it with the worst way possible, grinding. We skipped a lot of daily quests. Area's were not clear enough to navigate with ease which lead to being sidetracked and sidetrack sidetracked which was annoying. I found that the quest handin/grind area's were too far apart with not enough linking quests/path's. All in all I found myself saying I wouldn't be doing a lot of this on other characters if at all.
The shipyard mission table/shipyard ship creation was annoying due to having to run up and down the hill to do stuff, really Blizz why not have it all centralised in the shipyard, of heaven help us have TWO tables in the main HQ part of my garrison having my minions running instead of me.
The only good thing I did was to get the rare kill for the Felpup pet reward. Patch 6.2 done for me, maybe the raids and reworked dungeons will be of entertainment but that's some time off yet.

Grumpy Elf says it best in this pre patch post about the expected grinding and his follow up post does a way better job of analysing the patch, his first impressions are worth the read.

Dust 514 Daily AURUM....

Nice to see, pity it doesn't work the same as the SP daily login and allow multiple characters to earn an Aurum daily amount, that would be too easy....

Dust 514 SKIN Event....

It's an interesting one.... The upcoming event SKIN will suit (pun intended) my Alt rather than my main.

E3.... the one I forgot to mention.....

During the E3 Press conference for Microsoft, there was a presentation from Rare that was of interest to me.

It brings back a lot of nostalgia for me.
The nostalgia I feel is borne from two games I have played heavily.
First up is the game I played on my C64 in the early 90's, Sid Meier's Pirates!  (first released in 1987)

Second up is that first game's remake Sid Meier's Pirates! (2004)

So I'll be keeping an eye on that new game.

Glad to see this project return with activity and glad that the man himself is back and better for the break away.

Limit Theory Hooooooooooo....

More E3 likes....

I'm really liking XCom2 I hope that it is really worth waiting for.

Of all the first person shooters I've seen in the trailers of E3 these two are what interest me the most, Ghost Recon Wildlands and Rainbow Six Siege.

And I saw this vid on No Man's Sky that add some more information:

Star Trek Online....

Very very interesting.... I'll be watching how these videos go!

What I see at E3....

Looking at the latest info and video's from E3 has been interesting but only a few things have really been compelling for me.

I'm a real fan of the Xbox One now, the xbox 360 compatibility is a real game changer for me and has made my mind up on what next gen console to buy. Maybe not right away and maybe not at Christmas but when I do buy it'll be an Xbox One.
That decision is really hammered home after Sony announced that the PS4 will not be getting backward compatibility with the PS3, or at least they don't plan it. I'm sure they were a little taken aback by the xbox move like they never saw it coming. The only thing that I'll shed a tear over the Playstation non compatibility is that Dust 514 will not get to be played on the PS4 in a PS3 compatibility mode. So much for an easy port for the game. I might have gone PS4 sooner than Xbox One if they had said they would be bringing a compatibility mode.
Xbox One really has done the job of winning me over now. And that really is a surprise to me.

Game wise I've had mixed feelings and a lot of "meh's" on what I've seen.
What I'll be keeping an eye on so far is:

No Mans Sky:

The new South Park game:

And of course the new Star Wars Battlefront game
This definitely got my nostalgic juices flowing....

Time will tell if they release with the features and game play they say they have.

Wow 6.2 looking interesting....

The next update to wow should be interesting. "Correcting" things that the current expansion has changed or pioneered.

After watching the Q&A video I felt so wow knowledge inadequate. I used to like giving advice in game about it's various aspects, that is well and truly gone from me. Not so much the answers that are given in the Q&A but the knowledge needed in the questions being asked. I had always thought I knew a lot about the game after so many years of play. I guess I've let the game be casual for so long that I'm in no way properly knowledgeable anymore. It's a strange feeling. Maybe I just need to realise I'm a casual gamer with it now and just play for the fun of it.  I think I'm gonna be the dude that stands in everything and laughs hard when he "accidentally" aggro's that mob group....

Patch 6.2 Live Developer Q&A:

The Grumpy Elf has had a few blog entries that are well worth a read on the coming patch etc.

The BigBearButt Blog as always has some great insight's :)

Eveage....

Had to laugh at the music in this vid, found it over on reddit.

It seems that the burn Jita time of year is back even if it seems to be code doing it over a larger area, thankfully I've had no hassle from them of late....
uedemachoke

Burn Jita seems to now be burn Amarr this year starting tomorrow the 19th June, I'd say it would start later tonight but an alt there yesterday had trouble finding some certain ammo's on the market so I'd say it's all bought up in advance. Both articles I've linked are a worthy read. I'll be interested to see if Provibloc does get fully invaded.

On a more general note there was an article in a paper about journalism on games, always good to see more like that.

My further research on solo wormhole shenanigans lead me to find a good series of video's:

I enjoyed seeing the B-Roll footage for Eve Valkyrie from This years E3.

As always the O7 show was of interest even if this one didn't have as many wow'ing announcements. I like the changes to fleet warping, probably because I'm a ratting null carebear ;-p

Two day's of Dust pt2....

Last time I went over some details of my setup and the two daily bouts of gameplay; A few days ago I took note of another two day's of my stats.

Day 1

First up was my main.

The Daily missions were:
1 battle win,
1 battle win,
Hack 7 Primary Objectives,
Hack 5 Primary Objectives,
Kill 42
Destroy 6 Installations,
Kill 20
Earn 2,999 SP
Kill 5
Hack 14 Primary Objectives,

Completion of those rewards gave either isk and/or strongbox's.
The first "win 1 battle" gave a strongbox key.
The "Kill 20" gave a reward of 6 'Pyrus' Assault A/1 Series suits.
EXTRA REWARD of complete 3 Dailies would give 50 'Black Eagle' Scout G/1-Series Suits

Now I don't like the scout suits and I've never had the patience (or should that be skill) to use the shotgun fit of the 'Black Eagle' but overall they seemed easy to get, the least I could do to get the overall reward was win 1 battle and get 5 kills to complete 3 dailies.

TYPE                                     K          KA          D          SP          ISK           NOTE
Domination                             11            4            3         8354       323,078      Win

With my overall rewards done after one match I decided to get the other 9 kills needed for the 6 'Pyrus' suits reward.

TYPE                                     K          KA          D          SP          ISK           NOTE
Domination                             9            3              2         6633       155,339     Win
So after two battles I'd gotten all I wanted from the rewards.
1 battle win,                              Check mark symbol
1 battle win,                              Check mark symbol
Hack 7 Primary Objectives,      2 of 7X symbol
Hack 5 Primary Objectives,      2 of 7X symbol
Kill 42                                      11 of 42X symbol
Destroy 6 Installations,              0 of 6X symbol
Kill 20                                     Check mark symbol
Earn 2,999 SP                         Check mark symbol
Kill 5                                       Check mark symbol
Hack 14 Primary Objectives,    2 of 14X symbol

EXTRA REWARD of complete 3 Dailies  Check mark symbol

Not a bad day at all, quick and easy pub matches.

Next I took up the call with my alt.

The Daily missions were:
1 battle win,
1 battle win,
Earn 7,999 sp,
Join and complete 2 battles,
Earn 43,999 SP in a single day,
Kill 11,
Get 3 Kill Assists,
Earn 2,999 SP in one battle,
Earn 14,999 SP in one battle,
Win 2 battles,

Completion of those rewards gave either isk and/or strongbox's.

EXTRA REWARD of complete 8 Dailies would give 5 Hacked Strongbox Keys.

With the Extra reward being 5 keys it was worth doing. But with 8 of the 10 Dailies needed for completion it was going to be a longer haul....

TYPE                                     K          KA          D          SP          ISK           NOTE
Domination                             8            3             10         7461      156,638     Joined mid game, Win
Domination                             2            0               1            0           45,054     Joined at the end, Win
Domination                             2            11           10        11070      192,246     Loss
Domination                             5            3               2         6201      217,771      Loss
Domination                             1            1               5         1784      336,676      Loss
Domination                             8            5               5         6941      162,535      Loss
Domination                             5            3               9         5674      155,538      Loss
Domination                             1            1               0         3572      142,364      Joined at the end, Win
Domination                             5            5               9         7372      147,526      Loss

After nine battles I'd gotten the 8 dailies. Long haul was an understatement.
1 battle win,                                    Check mark symbol
1 battle win,                                    Check mark symbol
Earn 7,999 sp,                               X symbol
Join and complete 2 battles,            Check mark symbol
Earn 43,999 SP in a single day,       Check mark symbol
Kill 11,                                           Check mark symbol
Get 3 Kill Assists,                           Check mark symbol
Earn 2,999 SP in one battle,           Check mark symbol
Earn 14,999 SP,                             X symbol
Win 2 battles,                                  Check mark symbol

EXTRA REWARD of complete 8 Dailies Check mark symbol

Day 1 was a two sided coin, my main had a great day quick and easy. My alt had a bad day but got there in the end. There are other day's that are more a mix of the highs and lows, this day just seemed to have segregated the fun to the main and the sad panda moments to the alt.
It was all about trying to get the rewards, isk, SP and loot.
As always despite the alt's stats there was more fun than not, but after so many games of the same type it was feeling very grindy. The lack of match type variety and so much protostomping takes it's toll in the long term.

Day 2

First up again was my main.

The Daily missions were:
1 battle win,
8 Kills,
13 Kills,
Hack 8 Primary Objectives,
8,999 SP in one battle,
Activate instant booster 3 times,

4 Primary Hacks,
Earn 69,999 SP in one day,

7 Killl Assists,
Earn 2,999 SP,

Completion of those rewards gave either isk and/or strongbox's.
The "win 1 battle" gave a strongbox key.
13 Kills would give 3 'Pyrus' Assault suits

EXTRA REWARD of complete 8 Dailies would give 3 Strongbox Keys.

Game on....

TYPE                                     K          KA          D          SP          ISK           NOTE
Domination                             4            6              2         5243      204,318      Win
Domination                             2            1              2         1698      103,729      Loss, Late game start
Domination                             3            4              1         4001      186,408      Win
Domination                             5           10             8         5926      104,881      Loss

With my overall rewards far from complete I decided to not grind for the extra reward. I didn't fancy another day on my main like the alt had on day 1.

After those four battles the dailies looked like this:

1 battle win,                                   Check mark symbol       (1 key)
8 Kills,                                           Check mark symbol
13 Kills,                                         Check mark symbol       (3 'Pyrus' Assault suits)
Hack 8 Primary Objectives,           X symbol
8,999 SP in one battle,                   X symbol
Activate instant booster 3 times,      X symbol

4 Primary Hacks,                            X symbol
Earn 69,999 SP in one day,             X symbol

7 Killl Assists,                                 Check mark symbol
Earn 2,999 SP,                                Check mark symbol
EXTRA REWARD of complete 8 Dailies  X symbol

I had gotten a strongbox key and 3 'Pyrus' Assault suits on top of the usual isk and sp you get.

I knew I had an alt to check up on....

The Daily missions were:
1 battle win,
6,999 War Points,
39 Kills,
Cover 1000 meters
Hack 6 Primary Objectives,
Hack 3 Installations,
Hack 3 Primary Objectives,
19 Kill assists,
Hack 12 Primary Objectives,
Earn 90,999 SP in a single day,

Completion of those rewards gave either isk and/or strongbox's.
The "win 1 battle" gave a strongbox key.

EXTRA REWARD of complete 5 Dailies would give 3 'Hellmar' Suits.

Those dailies are a tough crowd, I dont' want to spend any Aurum on altering them. My free Aurum is it's own "keepsake" ;-p
Time to press on and see what I could get....

TYPE                                     K          KA          D          SP          ISK           NOTE
Domination                             1            0              7         2822      25,776        Loss, protostomped
Domination                             5            1             11        7077       99,344       Loss, protostomped
Domination                             0            2              8         4807      103,162      Loss, protostomped
Domination                             8            6              3         6358      162,415      Win

After those four battles the dailies looked like this:

1 battle win,                                 Check mark symbol
6,999 War Points,                       X symbol       (2602/6999)
39 Kills,                                      X symbol       (14/39)
Cover 1000 meters                      Check mark symbol
Hack 6 Primary Objectives,         X symbol
Hack 3 Installations,                     Check mark symbol
Hack 3 Primary Objectives,         X symbol
19 Kill assists,                              X symbol       (9/19)
Hack 12 Primary Objectives,       X symbol
Earn 90,999 SP in a single day,    X symbol

EXTRA REWARD of complete 5 Dailies  X symbol

I had gotten a strongbox key from the 1 win and wasn't in the mood to grind the rest for the Extra reward.

Day 2 saw a far worse amount of protostomping, probably because if was a Saturday, Day1 was the Friday before it.
Loot was gained, isk and SP were earned and again overall enjoyment was had despite the protostomping.
It's a game I like to see develop and expand and with luck get ported preferably to pc.
As for the day to day here and now gameplay I can see myself logging in and doing the dailies to get more isk/sp etc. There have only been one or two days that I've gone beyond that and played matches for the enjoyment of playing more matches
With luck there will be more of that in the future.

I might change any more "stats" blog entries I do in an effort to use up some of the extra suits/weapons and equipment that are littering my assets list. It'll also be good to see how they change up my gameplay.
In the last week I was lucky enough to get a skin from a lockbox on my main, thankfully it was an Amarr Medium skin. As most of my suits are Amarr medium's it'll fit right in.
