Eve Echoes....

Yea I'm going back to complaining about CCP. And waffling, lots and lots of waffle.

I've never had any interest in Eve Echoes. Curious to see what and how it would be developed but no interest to play it.  I don't consider it to really be Eve, it's not really a sandbox(imho). It may look aesthetically like Eve but it's not Eve in my book. Not by comparison. Too many shaved down parts(like a 70's hot rod with an electric engine under the hood). Granted I am the furthest thing from their target audience.

It does look (from my perspective) like CCP is being overly CCP with how they have developed it. More questions than answers on why and why have the game overall. Yea yea business and profits.CCP trying to cash in. Business rather than a good game. I can't shake my head or roll my eye's hard enough at most of their decisions.

CCP has a trend of going all in on an idea and in their own way making it something they(not the players) want. The project then falters and CCP cuts 90% of it's connection with the game leaving it to wither and die. CCP logic isn't explainable even by CCP. Spend your cash but only as CCP wants. They lack any real good will. Something for nothing is not in CCP's creed.

I don't see a reason to play this game as well as the PC version; Never mind see why I'd leave the PC version for it.  I can barely get through the latest information without doing a lot of hard sighing. You'd think with so much text they would have presented a decent image to read!

I had more interest in Eve Aurora ....

Which looked to be a cell shaded, strategy take on things... At least it looked interestingly different. I gather that it was the precursor to Echoes before it got canned/changed(maybe not? (and this from 2018)).

I'm an old dog with Eve Online. A true bitter veteran (see 'mystery code' in my blog search) and then some. But as a mobile game, Eve Echoes is a shít ton more convoluted then Eve Online especially in regard to its monetization. No player payoff for what you get imho. Two different kinds of Omega accounts?!? Corporation clones.....
It's a mobile game for sure. It's all about CCP profit. Milking the players for (small?!) amounts of cash constantly. No wonder CCP loves it so much. Players cash to waste I suppose. I've bin burned so I'll pass with a massively wide berth.

Eve Echoes as a free to play Alpha looks to be more limited then in Eve Online and oppressively monitored. Player trading needs to be verified...... Just wow! Sandbox eh!!! That's not gonna be fun to play at all.

I have a feeling that Eve Echoes is going to be smashed hard by the Eve Online high end player organisation to game it's system just to see it burn.

I can smell it already. Too harsh a consideration?

I wonder if this game is aimed at Eve Online players at all......Why pay to play a lesser version on mobile.... Who's that desperate to have that glimmer of Eve Online as a separate mobile version. Is there really a massive clamor of players gagging for this on mobile?!
I just can't see why an inferior clone of a game designed to be inferior so it can be on mobile and separate from Eve Online is attractive......

I can't get excited as this...

Uptodown

I see Eve Echoes and wonder what could have been done for Eve Online players and the options it could have given players through Eve Portal instead. Of course all Eve Online players get is a separate PLEX app for mobile... Cha-ching on CCP's mind.

At least with looking back at the likes of Aurora it was Eve but different, a different experience of the universe on a different platform. That's something old Eve online and new players could all go to.

As is I've rather have Eve Online in potato mode with it's Alpha clone then this Echoes mobile version.

Scratch that I'd rather use Steam link on my phone to play Eve Online in a mobile way!

Eve Echoes may be a way of getting Eve out there to the wider world. Maybe even a broader playerbase but Eve is a PC game and anyone who wants to play Eve is going to play it on PC.
Echoes may be a designed for mobile game but I can't see it bring in the same playerbase.

Eve Online, it's complicated. Why CCP would do a slimmed down port of the PC game rather than go the Aurora path is making me ask more questions than getting reasons to play Echoes.

I've seen videos, I've not tried it but I don't want to. Each to their own.

CCP I'm sure expects an Eve Online playerbase. I can't see that happening. I can't see Echoes being generally popular as CCP wants, expects. I've love to see their projected estimates. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it 'takes off'.

I'm more interested in the thought process's that CCP went through with this games development. Looking at their changes to Eve in general is baffling for he most part. Never mind the FPS genre shenanigans(to put it mildly).

I suppose my CCP gripes all come down to the companies cash gouging 'best practices'. Eve Online is seen as a launchpad for cash generation and cash generating projects off it's back. That's not to say dev's don't love the game or their work but if CCP was all in on 'just' Eve Online it'd be a laser focused priority with more care and less live 'experimentation'.

CCP doesn't care if you've played their game/games for 10 or 20 years as long as they get a cha-ching today and a bigger cha-ching tomorrow. (insert gripe about mystery code x10).

End of waffle.....
