Mech 2's soundtrack is filled with great moments. Some(most) tracks stick out for me are:
5th track "Rogue Chariot / Bronze Anvil" is a highlight.
And the 8th track "Arkham Bridge"
But above all with a healthy dose of nostalgia track 9 - "Iron Piston / Wolf Trial 2"
Honorable mentions - track 11, track 13, track 14, track 15.... Yea 15 really is good... Can you tell I love the game!
Mech 2 Mercs had an epic intro and music to go with it. Intro music:
The full soundtrack(Night Wold track) is iconic(imho).
The Mech 2 expansion Ghost Bears Legacy is decent, but listening now I think nostalgia colours my view. Maybe, maybe not.
The New Dawn, re-imagined soundtrack is epic work(I'm gonna be saying epic a lot, the nostalgia is real). Mechwarrior - A New Dawn - Summoner (Track 2) is a great track:
Full New Dawn Album:
Mechwarrior 3 was a slightly different take on the franchise in my view. Due to it's changes it wasn't a more playable version(for me) because of those changes. Constant alarms, shutdowns and restarts..... It's almost like Mech 5 was modeled on it!! Anyway I remember it's mission briefings as a highlight(like those voiced by Robert Loggia in Freespace 2). As for music I don't recall any track standing out... A lot like Mech 5.
Mech 4 on the other hand in all it's forms is perhaps my most played iteration of the franchise.
With tracks like Emmity Road and Stutter Shark. It's with Mech 4 Mercs that is the pinnacle of the franchise in my view. The main menu track 'does it for me'. Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries Soundtrack - Next Move
That soundtrack has some other great ones, like these:
Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries Soundtrack - Hunter
Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries Soundtrack - Rescue
For some reason that last one has reminded today of the old Comanche Gold chopper game. That's a whole other tangent!
Last but not least the 2016 Battletech game. So much great music so little time, emotively epic.
Opening cinematic is used throughout gamepaly:
Even with the Start Menu music.
The Great Betrayal track is the iconic one for me overall let along Battletech.
