A new patch and new content.
After seeing the new TFO I'm left feeling a bit numb. I'm not sure what I expected but the TFO wasn't it. Yes it's different from other TFO's. Unlike the new ground based mission.
The mainly ground based episode carries on with the story-line and revisits some old (Nimbus Club) and newer locations(Khitomer fleet command). All in all it's good but there's still a 'nothing that hasn't been seen before' vibe to the episode overall. Tis grand.
The space based TFO is a tad bit confusing(chaotic) which in turn makes it long winded and in turn leads to frustrations in deciphering if your making a difference or not. There are too many objectives to do(imho), 50 survivors here, 10 there, 20 over there etc. None of which seem to matter.
Never mind the TFO starting blurb or the waffle he spews during the TFO.
Mars does look good.
But the music is horrendous. Kinda reminds me of cheap early 90's Dos games!
I've never heard such bad music in STO, never mind music in a TFO, be so intrusive.
Instead of messing with audio levels just for it I'd rather not do the TFO!
Beam up survivors, beam survivors to orbiting ships as combat ensues with an ever decreasing safe zone bubble. It just gets messy, which is suitable for the TFO given the surprise attack and panic that is supposed to be happening. Despite everything going on there didn't feel like there was any threat to me. Completing the objectives doesn't add anything to the TFO and failing them even less so.
I can see that this TFO will be ignored as much as possible by players in the future. For me one run was enough but I think I'll have to be redo it as the fastest way to get the daily sone. Not looking forward to that.
I am looking forward to the rewards.
I took another stab at the TFO last night. My second run and I'm still confused, it still requires button mashing and worst of all I think it doesn't really matter what a player does in the TFO to 'complete it':
(Video is still processing but you'll get the idea...)
