Eve, Eve, Eve Online. I did go ahead and pay for another 2 x3 month subscription with multiple character training. So I've been using it to complete both my 'mains' in regard to Orca/Porpoise fits with the new Industrial modules and T2 cores. Another few days will see both characters 'complete' in regard to those and the other new, more recent skills for ship fit changes. When they're done I'll move both skill q's on both main's to alts on both accounts into more dedicated 'alt' skills. Two alts on both accounts getting skills. OP. Both who've been well rounded for a long time but the more skills the better. Overkill on the 1% theory but it all adds up. That's the Eve bug and it's Achilles heel.
The login daily claim graphics have recently changed. I guess eye catching neon is 'in'. My preference was for the more detailed item icons but I don't care either way; It makes not difference to me. There are still detailed item images for 'special' event rewards..... So the reason for change is..... Reasons?
I've long since stopped reading patch notes for 'reasons'.
I find it funny that the icons for the rewards are now simplified and neon popping with colour... Funny because in my minds eye the Eve UI was changed to remove colours from the neocon icons(image later in the post on another matter shows the old neocon).... Not that long ago. Ah reasons.... so much faffing about in the moment with CCP and Eve Online. Like they are antsy and can't leave well enough alone.
Did the options sliders get changed as well? I think they look better then before but maybe I wasn't paying attention...
PI sliders on the collectors for the Plus and Minus are now also different to me..... Again I'm probably misremembering.
It's all swings and roundabouts with CCP. Altering so many sliders and stats to their game that it's no wonder they can't predict the outcomes. Nothing is certain for long. These days more than ever.
Imagine putting so much isk into something that is now slightly easier(for an attacker(2 visits instead of three?)) to get whacked. No thanks. Not fun for me and I won't be easier content for another players whims, 'just because'. Yea yea I can hear it; Bla bla bla, carebear tears, bla bla bla go play another game. If the silent majority left Eve ......
Besides CCP changes a lot in the moment. Maybe for god reason, maybe for balance... But it's never for long. That lack of certainty is another irk for me re CCP and how they run their game. I'm only a paying customer(fool of a took), what do I know.
I know I get all nostalgic and reminisce about my old hi-sec POS(small but my own) but in all the years it was running; And given than such could only be placed in the limited number of moon locations, I only got dec'd once(it lead to nothing, was all bark no bite). It was nice to have a small part of the universe I could, even just a little, call my own and develop on. Add extra labs, do the Caldari epic arc for its reward lab; Manufacturing additions etc etc. There's no happy middle ground for an independent operator these days; At least not in my view. Then again it's all a wealth and asset loss/mitigation dependent thing. If you can afford to loose it etc etc.
I'm once again the only living soul in my lil ol hi-sec corp. Me my alts and I. My southern hemisphere mates are all into other things again. Not all to do with other gaming; Of two real life mates one just had a new baby and the other has a demanding job that's not allowing a life. Real life is real life; When it is then virtual life takes a hit.
Speaking of that last dude, he forgot to cancel the auto renew on his subscription. So not for the first time he's asked me to 'use' his character. I've no real plans to to anything on that score but I've been keeping an eye on his P.I. and skill queue. What are friends for!
My gameplay hasn't altered much overall. Daily claim/login and character maintenance(mainly skills and PI). If my lil PI empire of dirt gets hit by the looming nerf bat then there really isn't much incentive to login. Fill the Skill Q till it expires and that's it for my own subscription. Yes I could do more active activities to gain wealth etc But, time, effort and a lack of real gameplay incentive are still missing.
On the P.I. front, costs, specifically custom office taxes are all up across the board. 18% tax is common. A few years ago I'd talked to a corp running a good few of the planets my characters use and got a low tax. Which has been a benefit that keeps on saving to this day. All that said. Selling to buy orders is now the 'best way' as competition to sell is very high even outside of Jita. Buy prices are down as well overall. I used to be able to wait with good order prices, but when sales are 6 to 8 weeks in and not a nibble its time to reconsider(and to stop being others price marker). Again the nostalgia kicks in and I recall the Nullsec PI and the killing I'd make with robotics alone. Then again Providence(old provi bloc) isn't a thing anymore. Such a pity.
Anyway outside of all that I've no real goals in game. I've an alt in a large corp that could lead to a Wormhole life. Which could be interesting but as an Alpha a limited one. As casual as that Corp is it's hard to really get into an area of Eve via it without the paranoia checks etc. And that's with a corp I've been semi active in for years. I could reboot my gameplay and just pay for that alt with a sub, go all in as it were from scratch. The character wouldn't be the problem but the thoughts of starting with a fresh application to a group off the bulletin boards is off-putting to say the least. I've no drive to 'make' me do it. It's an overall gaming thing for me. Eve is not the end all be all of my gaming. Not any more and hasn't been for years. That's not to say I don't care.... I'm blogging about it! I mean just look at my Eve waffle this year(here and here)!
Yea my waffle is way off the tracks and into the long grass at this stage.
At least CCP has the sense to avoid the Blackchain cráp. I'd say their decision made me pleasantly surprised but I don't trust CCP so what I felt was plain ordinary relief. For now.
My epic store login/accounts created for that store's free pack are still active. Perhaps not for that much longer. The 'new' account 'special' login rewards are all but done. Those two characters will be deleted after handing over all worldly possessions to my main. Then off to the euthanasia recycler with them.
Are any of the freebie items worth the little effort? No! But as I've said before, I'm a collector and a hoarder of in-game assets. Must have the lootz!(can I have your stuff!?!!).
