Eve: Gunjack....

Every now and again I've still been plugging away at Gunjack. Clearing level's 17 and 18 without much fuss since I last posted. Two more levels were missing a 3 star rating, level's 14 and 20.

Level 20 didn't have any rating at all because I'd never finished it successfully. The Scorpion Battleship finalé 'boss' kept incinerating me, even after three continues; Like I wasn't shooting it at all!

In retrospect I was to quick on the trigger when I didn't need to be and not quick enough when I should've been. While one boss mechanic had been seen before; This boss also has a mechanic not seen in the game up to that point. So there was a 'few' moments of frustration and confusion(do I shoot at it, do I not, why isn't it taking damage). It's hard to read a popup message when your literally blinkered and 20 levels in; Especially in the 'fever' of a boss fight.

How not to do the level 20 boss:

Eventually over the last few days on and off, some semblance of cohesion entered muscle memory and I got there in the end.

How to do I got through the level 20 boss:

3 stars may be good for a level, great even; But 'master' rating is better.....  While I've no intention of hunting a 'master' rating on each of the 20 combat levels; The B1 and B2 levels, the extra asteroid shooting gallery levels were much more approachable.

The B2 level to 'master' was one I'd gotten out of luck early on(a month ago.. maybe) as I wasn't aiming for it. Typical that when aiming for it on B1 it proved illusive. Again over the last few days I was able to clear that goal. Not a perfect run, but I did get the 'Master' score.

That B1 'master' rated run:

With everything I want now 'cleared', that being the (in my view)  'easy' and 'medium' content in a 'done' state; There's not much motivation to go back for more. Difficult for the sake of difficulty is not my thing. Doing a fun quick blast when the mood takes quickly looses that fun factor when chasing some 'hardcore' goal that isn't really needed for the game. That's all down to a players choice, personal preference and what a gamer finds fun. Don't get me wrong, I still find Gunjack fun, it just doesn't have real long-term motivating goals for me. Then again I don't think it's really supposed to. I'm sure the plan was to add DLC to add in more levels(different mining systems) that morphed into the second games creation.
It's a quick fun lol'ol'shooter that I've more than gotten my monies worth out of it. I'll not uninstall it but it's another to strike off my list.
