Star Trek Online....

Before I waffle on about STO and my gaming in it; I've had some, what I would term strange, out of nowhere interactions from a few players.... To me it's just strange to have random people say hello or add friend requests out of nowhere. I'm not a socialite and I don't promote my characters/usernames. If anything a player will be lucky if I chat back in a random party. So chat without any previous shared interaction via an in game 'moment'.... I just won't interact. So apologies to the three players in the last week that seemed to be doing so out of nowhere.... I may be Irish but I don't have the gift of the gab. If your eagle eye'd enough to spot my @ handle then at the very least say so to strike a conversation. Say you've read the blog... Otherwise your a random person sitting next to me on public transport and I'm a guy with his headphones in. Everyone is different and I know it's an mmo.... "But".

That aside, the game anniversary has been an interesting one. The latest new episode/locations show a lot of polish to the game. I was particularly surprised by the glass effects. The Ilia character model is really good.

The event campaign and doing that content for it has been 'nice'. Plenty of steam in the game yet. Great to see it's development stepped up and up. I found one of the newest ships with it's aiming turrets tracking targets a very nice touch. Not that I have that ship but to see it as a mechanic in game is real nice advancement to see.

Only a day or two into the event I got to see the 'main ships' of the moment in random TFO's. The new Alliance carrier isn't as big as I thought it would be. Big but not that big. Makes me wonder how it handles. Guess I'll have to give it a try after all.

The VOD of some of the insight on such new content design changes is interesting to see (https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1291639786).

I'm really liking the new TFO. Iuppiter Iratus. I like it's control point, station hack, close portal, dps all the things, boss shield mechanics. As simple as I think it is to get to grips with what needs to be done, and as we are over halfway though the event. I still question some players who are aimless and haven't got a clue. Never mind those that sit on a point afk auto attacking.... Which does nothing but get them 'active' credit for a TFO while being afk... Lot of that about in STO and it's annoying....

The free gifts were welcome and show a massive good will to the playerbase(Unlike CCP for Eve Online).

The captains upgrade token was really nice to get.

There were other promotions around and via Alienware there was another free pack. Which I gave to my newest KDF character(the cat)

Also well worth it were the free T5 and T6 tokens.

For the T5 token I went for the Scimitar. For no real reason other than I think it has a cool look from the movie and I've a need to set one of my Romulan characters in it(we'll see how that goes). Maybe I should have gone for the classic D'deridex.....

While my wife went for the Andorian Kumari I suggested.

For the T6 token and given my joy of the Mirror Gagarin I chose it's T6 version.

I chose poorly. I knew this from the second I flew it in a patrol.... I should have gone for one of the newer blockade runners. It's a personal feel thing. Live and learn.... I guess. Maybe it'll grow on me.

My wife on the other hand is holding onto her token...

Tho I would suggest the Appalachia of said Blockade runners for her..... I'm sure it would be a much better choice. It's got a really nice console as well. I have full regret mode on not selecting it.

More progress, slow but has been made with my account endeavor progression. 2 Space perks fully done.

Speaking of big ships.... I see you there Mr Scott from UFP..... Neither of us were the first and am sure will not be the last. Viva la big ships! OVERCOMPENSATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UFP give with one hand and takes with another. I had a Random TFO run with one of their members who was afk. A pain for all involved but more so after another player bailed at the start... So three of us completed the TFO as the UFP player sponged. Yea yea afk players and real life comes first... walk the dog, feed the baby, urgent phone call.... It's all fine for people you know but if your doing randoms there's no reason to shít all over other players experience. Just leave the group and open a slot for another player.

Especially annoying when this AFK sponge respawns just as the last boss is killed. Screw you.

Anyway...

Needless to say I've still been working on my cat in a cat carrier. As a character he's been gaining some rep/stats and traits etc... His ship has been updated and upgraded(T5-U and then an X upgrade) so that even now I'm kind of 'ok' with it. In some ways I'm hesitant to spend currencies/resources on it in a disproving way but a larger part of me is just giggling and allowing it. Two sides of the game-play coin(waste/joy).

Testing it out in a few advanced TFO's has proven it to be capable. Still it's slow to turn given it's size and it's momentum values don't help; I find myself reversing a lot in it. I'm sure there's a setup/trait for that(reversing a lot)but I've done enough with this character and ship.... More work done and still a lot to do... How much of that gets done depends on the fun factor.. Maybe I just need to plaster over the remaining cracks and consider it done.

I saw that image but I had to nab it for here. Apt. Taken from Twitter.

With the good game graphics you have to take the bad... I was helping my wife do some missions on an alt and it was nearly impossible to play the underground lava zone on New Romulus due to the bloom of the lave glow... Even at a 2% bloom effect it's bad...... I've played that area before with no problems but I guess something has changed.

Gotta love the game for it's player character creations/looks. There have been a few in the last while I was interested in.

Straight out of the Fifth element. This player had a perfect Mangalore, very cool!

This Klingon has an outfit(https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Boreth_Monk_Robes) that's not seen around... At least I've not seen it around a lot. But it works for this character. Kudos.

Other characters with looks of note.......

Kudos to you all.
