I watched the CCP live show last night on Twitch TV covering the Rubicon expansion.
It may have all been said before in dev blogs but to have the devs spell it out and do a “show’n’tell” was good.
Weather they have scripts or not CCP’s live event style is very amateurish, and at times very cringe worthy. CCP Rise and CCP Fozzie were by far the better or a more able duo shown, but maybe that’s just me and the other accents.
On many occasions it was said that the code being deployed for the new structures like the Depot, has been written so that new options and features can now be more easily created and added to the game.
From the sounds of it they are putting in extra code to allow for future features and changes to be done a lot more quickly, perhaps bypassing older more outdated code that is not worth altering. That can’t be a bad thing from a content point of view. But I suppose it depends on what it is.
I was very, very happy when CCP Seagull stated that they will be maintaining the game we already have. That is reassuring. Yes there will be major changes, but I now see them as a a well planned development of the game to enjoy looking forward too rather than fear them making changes and ripping the guts out of what I have as a game at the moment.
Being a big user of missiles I was interested with the information about Rapid Heavy Launchers being introduced, so that there will be a very large amount of DPS with the trade-off being a very long reload time. Rapid Light launchers will also be getting this higher dps burst and reloading time change. This could be interesting, as it seemed to be PVE tested by CCP Rise. Specifically regarding the new Marauder’s and running missions/sites.
They didn’t go into much more detail about the new Sisters ships but I was glad to see the information about the interceptor changes and the way warping is dependent on the ability of ships involved.
They showed the Rubicon Trailer for the first time, And I was excited by it.
