I've had an interest in Astroneer for a long time. Eventually picking up a copy on sale over a year ago. Yet the game has sat as an icon on my desktop unused. Everything about the game says it should be a game I'm into. The graphics art-style, gameplay and humour of it all. I do like it.

Plus any game that's continually improved and updated over time gets a big thumbs up from me. Added value like that never fails.
I tried the game over the last week; A last ditch effort. It was a push to do so. A self motivated push that felt like a shove! Maybe that was somewhat the wrong background mindset to do it with; But this last attempt left me numb to the game. Gather build, visit planets to gather and build is not a gameplay/creative motivator. At least not for me in this game. Which I find weird. I'm still into other games that share similar gameplay styles, Minecraft, Stardew, Farm Sim'17, ETS 2. So my attitude to Astroneer today is a lot like No Man's Sky; No
November should see a "creative update". Worth waiting for? Would it make a difference for me?
I like to get the most out of games I purchase. It's a main reason behind having a long list of games to try. But 5 or 6 month's is a long time to 'try' and build the motivation to get into a game, never mind a year.
Astroneer hasn't shown me anything different as an in game experience that I've not gotten from other games where I've invested more time and effort. I think that's why it hasn't 'clicked' with me.
Maybe I've been misreading Astroneer's overall play-style? The game has always leaned heavy on the co-op side after all. That's not to say it can't be a solo game, it can be, You-tubers prove it. Maybe if I knew friends that were also into the game, that might be different. Then again group fun changes all games.
Maybe new content could click with me but if the game overall hasn't yet....
I have to face facts. If I uninstall the game now am I really missing anything.......
Just seems a shame to leave it.
I think it's finally time to cut the looses with this game. I've an expectation of spending time and gaining enjoyment that isn't happening. If I was into it I'd have played it by now and never stopped until I was 'done'.
