STO....
I only just mentioned in a previous post that if I'd had the lifetime sub I'd have already gotten so much out of it. I've hemmed and hawed over the lifetime sub for at least three years, will this be the year?

All in the voice....
Watching a playthrough of Star Trek Online from Justice Gaming (Part 20 of his Romulan replaythrough). I heard what I thought was a familiar voice. It was familiar but not for the reason I thought. The character speaking in the link above is called Franklin Drake. And his voice sounds exactly like the character (Boyd) that you play in This is the Police.
They may sound similar but a google search later showed the characters were voiced by different people.
Franklin Drake is voiced by Adam Harrington
&
Boyd is voiced by Jon St. John (voice of Mr Duke Nukem himself), he does have other Star Trek Online credits for his voice.
No connection between them but a lot of similarity in voice and with STO.

Games with Gold....
An interesting bunch of games to claim with the Xbox Gold subscription for March.
Xbox One
Trials of the Blood Dragon (March 1-31)
Superhot (March 16 - April 15)
Xbox 360 (also playable on Xbox One)
Brave: The Video Game (March 1-15)
Quantum Conundrum (March 16-31)
Superhot is the game I'm most interested in trying out. Freebies are freebies and I'll claim them all, but like most of those I do get I'll probably never download let alone play them.
Although I am gaining a deeper appreciation for both Assassins Creed Chronicle games, India & China.

This is the Police....
The last 'easy' response for the day seemed a good way of getting easy XP for the officers. It didn't go so well. This shift has taken an unexpected turn for the worse....

The penitent man shall pass....
Nothing to do with gaming yet but the Final Space series is proving to be hilarious.

Two Point Hospital....
Gamesradar had some new interesting gameplay for Two Point Hospital. It looks to be everything it's promising to be. I'm really looking forward to it (even more than seeing Project Hospital come out).

House of the Dying Sun....
I recently came across a live stream of a gamer with a game that looked like Homeworld 2 but from a first person dog-fighter perspective. It was House of the Dying Sun. It caught my attention!
I'm not sure why this game never attracted my attention before. Maybe because it may have been aimed more at the VR market over a year ago.
Seeing the review below and it's VR and non VR perspective's has me adding the game to my steam watch list (I do not won any VR headset). I might pick it up if I see it on a steam sale.

Interesting news on the upcoming updates:
I like the additions to the PvE like the extra DLC weapons being available in the campaign.

MGS - Selling save slots?!?!
I've not been into a Metal Gear game since Sons of Liberty (xbox, yes that long ago). I enjoyed that game but any I've trialed since haven't done anything for me. It seems that the latest game (Metal Gear Survive) is going to be plagued with ridiculous micro transactions with a capital M. $9.99 for a save slot!!! Not a selling point for me.
STO....
With the end of 'most' of the events in game (for now) I've taken another brief-ish look into fine tuning my characters ships/gear. As well as their officers.
My main returned to his Vorgon ship and upgraded some of his ship-fit levels (weapons and tactical slots).
My science character is fairly set in her 31st century multi-mission science ship from the store (yay for free zen). It's not perfect but it's capable (performance tested in the featured episode). I really need more practice with the abilities of a science character. I'm still of the tactical mindset. But improvements were made (I think).
My engineering character is another recipient of a 31st century bundle ship, the dreadnought. Like the science character my skills at using an engineering character is limited. And again like my science character this ship is capable (performance tested in the featured episode). It did handle better than the sci ship but that's because of the 6 fighters that do most of the DPS.
To finish off the use of the 31st century ships my KDF character got the tactical version. As the main spec/class I use it was a lot easier to fit/understand and handle the ship. Making it enjoyably capable.
With my Romulan character next and another tactical character I decided to take full advantage of the 8th anniversary ship and featured episode to equip it. While my main had gotten the ship and gear out of being the main and doing the new event; This new ship and it's set has made my lowest geared character a lot more of an on par alt. Her original ship a Romulan T5U was no match for the featured episode. Even as an upgraded T5 it was painful to do and lead to destruction. DPS was far from desirable. After getting the ship and it's gear the difference between the T5U and the new ship and its set was night and day. It's not a perfect or min/maxed fit, not by a long shot. But it handles so much better and the DPS is ten times more effective.
For the eagle eye'd on the tactical ship fits the Experimental weapon (at least for me) seems to output better DPS than the Voice of the profits ExpWeapon from the new ship. So all have been replaced with the older more reliable Experimental weapon.
I've also gone back to my lol ol lvl 12-ish character. Completing a few missions and sorting his bank to be more streamlined. Items I thought would be useful in hindsight had to now be trashed/salvaged as they are in no way going to help. I'm getting a stronger urge to play this character, at least to a point where he can use a lot of the items (like the rep sponsorship's, Doff's and bridge officers).
Plenty to tinker with yet on all my characters....
Hitman....
The Broker proved to be an easy kill. I shot out the electric extension in the puddle at the side garden starting area. Electric accident kill. Easy. What proved hard was the egg, or rather I borked myself by not bringing a lock-pick.... For the other half of the ET is the collection of the egg in the top floor safe.
So I needed an alternative. A crowbar is located on the 3rd floor (attic). It seemed the best choice and wasn't hard to get. So with things back on track and getting into the en suite (from the attic) I distracted both guards and on getting to the safe, collecting the egg and in walked one of the main Paris level targets, spotting me running for the door. Which was not fortunate. After a few actions I walked out and completed the mission. Getting spotted "ruined" the score and additional achievements but it happens.
In retrospect I was due a "bad" elusive target, I've been having an easy enough time the previous few.

Eve Online....
Lots of dev posts....
RETIREMENT OF EVE VOICE.
About time, I think I used it once when a mate in game wanted to prove how crap it was and it was... I'd have classed it's removal before the captains quarters. The CQ at least did serve an active function (Even with it being not fully completed #rantaboutwalkinginstations).
SOVEREIGNTY WARFARE & JUMP FATIGUE CHANGES.
Sov Warfare has no impact on my Eve game-play, even if I had characters back in null they had noting to do with owning or fighting for sov. I'm sure the PvPers will bekeyboard jizzing spamming that discussion forum.
Jump fatigue was a pain in the ass when I was hauling in, around and out of null so having those penalties be reduced is great... But I'm not involved in null to take advantage of this so again no real impact... But it's a good change if it stays like or similar to the dev blog statement....
NEW CHAT BACKEND. Ok... ./shrugs shoulders. Client performance improvements are always good. I don't like the way it says "if we did it right then you will hardly notice a change". Meaning that if they do, do it right then there is a possibility there will be noticeable change? A good change? A bad change? Meh. Whatever gets a 64 bit client sooner. Not holding my breath.

WoW....
A day or two ago I saw a funny video from TheHiveLeader:
So I linked it as a message to my old wow guildies group on facebook. Ever since there has been more activity on the page than in the previous 6 month's. It seems there are a few people returning to the game. It's good to see but it is lacking the numbers to get the guild back to the way it was. If that can ever happen. So many people have moved their characters realm/faction or just rerolled altogether. Chatting about it with my wife, we both agreed that it was too early to even consider returning. We're not even pushed in any way to go for the pre-purchase of the expansion.
For me wow has to do a lot to hook me back in. And I know I would be more interested in the WoW Classic edition/version......
I'll be keeping an eye on the news updates from certain sites.
The summer month's will tell if there is any meaningful plan to return to the game for the expansion.

Eve Online....
Time for more waffle....
The latest Dev Blog is on some balance changes coming in March.
The main points for the changes being listed as:
1. More change is better, even if it’s small
2. The meta is feeling stagnant, particularly around Feroxes and the Marchariel
I agree with point one... depending on the change they make. But I do fear that the more they poke at stats the more other stats will need to be altered as an unintended consequence. There are so many uses for so many ships in so many different configurations, small changes can become self defeating.
Point two as a comment is troubling to me. What they call stagnant I call CCP poking a stick at something that may not need any attention. (Then again if the game was properly balanced... say by having a permanent set of dev's as a longterm balance team.... But all that is a whole other set of arguments).
So what are they changing:
Battleships are getting a bigger cargo hold and longer lock range. Great.
Attack Battlecruisers can fit Medium Micro Jump Drive. I don't use the ships or the drives but the combination of the two does seem to make sense.
Changes to the Orthrus and Ferox have no effect on anything I have/would do so "meh" I say.
Changes to the Drake navy issue are strange to me, the reduction of 1 missile high slot. The Navy drake was created to keep a Drake version in the game that had all hi-slot launchers. It's why the faction BC's were created(the outcry from players regarding a balance pass on BC's a long time ago). As for the reduction of the shield resists... It's a ship known as a brick it's supposed to have good resists... makes no sense to me. Besides the overall community thoughts on these BC's is that they are under powered in many area's... At least from what I've seen and read. (Then again if the game was properly balanced... say by having a permanent set of dev's as a longterm balance team.... But all that is a whole other set of arguments).
Cyclone and Eagle changes, meh. My Minmatar alts will see the Cyclone missile buff as a boon.... If they were to use one again(not likely).
The large range of changes for the Muninn is again CCP poking things with sticks and clubs, ending up with a ship that they have bent to form a Frankenstein that they can stand back and see as a da vinci madonna. Maybe a Madonna only a mother could love.... harsh but I think true.
To me the Muinn isn't an old ship. It's of no importance to me but was it introduced into the ship ecosystem so poorly thought out that it needs such a radical overhauling already; I have to question CCP overall longterm ship ecosystem idea's.... (Then again if the game was properly balanced... say by having a permanent set of dev's as a longterm balance team.... But all that is a whole other set of arguments).
All these changes don't feel so small.... If CCP does keep up a rate of changes like this more often, then I feel that is going to lead to a lot of problems in the long term.... I hope to be proved wrong. (Maybe they like creating work for their future selves).
But the big news is that a new ship type is being introduced, 'Flag Cruisers' for a non combat fleet commander role. Makes me wonder why current ships are not used or altered, like Command Battlecruisers. Like all ships in Eve, any ship can be fit or used for any role. weather it's a wise choice or not. I get that CCP wants non skilled up FC's out and active.
I love the Command Battlecruisers. I use them for level 4 missioning. Mainly because of their survivability. While I'm happy to not have CBC's changed in any way... I'm sure that Flag Cruisers will be used in other area's. It may have no cargo bay but there are plenty of high value pilots that would undock in it I bet.
The more I read about the new ship the more confused/conflicted I get over it and I don't know why, this ship is no skin off my nose.

STO....
I'm still plugging away with both of Q's dailies.
Gaining enough reputation marks to finish off my main who now has all reputations maxed out. Because of that all my level 60 alts now have the rep boosts for all reputations. Not a hard feat but it did take time, It would have been better to have done it all sooner rather than later, especially getting the boosts for alts. They could have benefited greatly from having the boost while they levelled.
I've also completed the featured episode on all my level 60 alts who then gained the 400 event vouchers that can be used every 20 hours to gain a rep mark package. Allowing them to pick any reputation version of rep marks. So rep marks can be gained on them in as easy a way as just doing admiralty dailies for Dilithium. Just another simple task that builds up overall.
Which brings me to my next activity Dilithium farming. The admiralty system is my best way of gaining Dilithium. Either the Klingon or Ferengi when levelled up can reward Dil. Since the introduction of the Ferengi admiralty I've switched from the Klingon to them. Just seems better lore wise.
Across all my characters there seems to have been a large gathering of currencies and reputation.
It all seems easier than before.

It's been an interesting ongoing month of activities.
Next month is blank by comparison....
Mimics....
I've seen a few mimics in games. Most recently in Torchlight 2. Otherwise I've only seen them in a Dark Souls series or two, from game playthroughs on youtube.
In the Fighting Fantasy book series, I may have come across a Chestrap Beast, but that's a long, long time ago...
There is a lot of history behind Mimics.

I was happy to see one in the new playthrough series from Sinvicta using mods to bring them to the game. Maybe the only mod I'd be tempted to get for my own playthroughs.

Another one for the sake of editing.... The clips below were taken from a horrendous match for the side I was on. It was an ugly one sided affair.... At least I was able to 'help' as a medic.....

Sea of Thieves....
Interesting video on the game...
I'm still interested in the game but neither fully a yea or nae. If anything the more I hear the more indecisive I still am about the game.
Hitman....
It seems there was a boo boo and the next Elusive Target was briefly available for 19 hours.
I'd not gotten to check this until now, but within the game I still have The Twin complete image.
The Broker has been confirmed to appear properly a the end of the month.
Interesting mistake.....
Another freebie.....
Gog.com have Dungeons 2 free for (at the time of posting) the next 40 hours.
Best described as Dungeon Keeper Plus it does look like a more modern version of the same DK fun.

Aven Colony...
Speaking of updates Aven Colony got a patch (Content Drop 3) with additions as well as fixes.
The game on steam is currently 50% off and well worth it if your into this type of game.
FTL....
I've not played FTL in a long time. It was nice to see it had a patch today and is still being cared for....

GRW....
Last week's challenge was tempting me to start it but I never did. Either time is in at warp speed or things are changing in game more rapidly than I can keep an eye on. I think I skipped another challenge similar to last weeks. This week is week 3 of season 5.
The latest version however has a crate reward. 3 items are better than one weapon skin and more of a motivation, at least for me. That has made me pay more attention, that and a need to potter about with the game some more.
The challenges weren't that hard to do.
Taking out the Unidad soldiers from the only big base in the region needed two runs for me. The base isn't that big so if you are discovered they all start to charge towards you closing the distance; If your in the base that quickly removes the distance requirement.
The second part just needs a Unidad ongoing reaction from "fucking shit up" in a Unidad base. Let reinforcements charge in and when the mortars are off cool down blast them.... Rinse and repeat until done.
The third was also easy enough, the region beside the challenge area(to the right) the Unidad base/railroad (M.O.B. Jaguar) has a nice gunship that can be used. Clear the area via sniping from the hill overlooking it to the southwest(also destroying the air defenses).
Once in and claiming the Viper gunship I returned to the challenge area and blasted two convoy's listed on the map. Done.
I do like the use of the crate as a reward..... 3 items in one box is better than one reward on it's own.
This time around I got:
The weapon skin is .... a weapon skin, not one I have any use for on any characters....
The bandages are an interesting addition.
Might be of use for my 'grey man' character...
And while I like the fact that they have vehicle rewards I'm not a fan on that new bike.
I much prefer the Huntsman bike I already have.
Even saying that I like the standard bike(in green/dark) just as much....
Bikes are .... fun.
