Space Hulk Deathwing - Enhanced Edition - A Quick Blast....

A game that does what is says on the tin....  Warhammer, space marines, killing Xenos (Tyranids times a thousand).

I'm happy with the little I've seen so far (up to Chapter 2). I can see the appeal of the co-op mode, especially on higher difficulties. But being a casual carebear I'll stick with the second level of difficulty, A.I. teammates and enjoy the journey for what it is.

There are collectible relic's to get on each level and the levels are big but I feel no need to go back and redo the fist chapter to collect them. Maybe a hook for a return to the game after a full run.

I've read that a complaint against the game is that combat is monotonous, but what can you really expect from a game based on a bunch of marines against hordes of xenos... It's the ultimate rush mode. I have no problem with the combat except to say that I could be a lot better with my dual wielding combo's. Shoot, swipe sword, shoot shoot.... etc. I have a tendency to just keep shooting.... Constantly, as if the sword was for decoration.

The graphics and mission design for me are atmospheric and bring a lot of nostalgia(Space Crusade on C64c)to life. I'm glad to be an older gamer to appreciate that

The one problem that I can somewhat agree with is the A.I. Teammates don't do a lot on their own initiative, like a medic not healing... And the Xenos themselves can line up one by one following a path to a marine. This can look out of place when you see a horde charge .... then get in line.... But for me it just makes for an easier time, if they want to line up I'm happy to shoot them like that.

My rose colored nostalgia covered glasses are tinting my view of this game. I'm glad I got it at the sale price which adds to the "be nice to it" mentality. So I can forgive it a lot because when I walk into a cavernous room on a space hulk, look up and giggle at all the detail, it works for me.
Given the tight spaces of most layouts it's kind of unavoidable given the numbers of enemy....

I'll blast my way through and like I said enjoy it for what it is. Warhammer, space marines, killing Xenos. Giggling all the way.
