Minecraft....

A floating in the air building I never used and created for no real reason(back in the day) was left unused till it became a base for my recent XP farm. With it's creation I've been back to the first area of the game I started in. The area has been long left without attention for years.

Perhaps the most time I've spent actively in the area since I first spawned there. Even with my rail network passing it by to go from new to newer locations. But with time needed waiting(even afk) for the XP to build up; It's lead to me pottered about updating and modernising some idea's that were in retrospect poorly implemented, never done or a massive mistake. Nothing like a bit of landscaping to make things at the very least 'look' better.

Moat(water) around a castle was redone, fences put in and an additional row of berry bushes for slowing enemies and 'beautification'.

Moat around another castle was never done, it got some lava transplants to fix that problem.

I also did some reworking of the general landscape while I wondered what I was thinking when I originally did things(water flow ditches that never did...flow).

The thing about my starting area, my initial map, this save, it was created 'way back when', probably at a Beta stage of the game. It's survived, been converted to work with each newer version of the game as it went. The biggest impact of such a version change to it was a biome designation from a generic standard green grassy area with oak trees into a snow and ice filled location. That didn't help my moat at all. Being back to the area shows what was 'normal'. There are stark contrasts in area's and world blocks. Quirky as it is I'm finding it all very nostalgic.

Most of all I've found a lot of diamonds. Easier than in newer generations of the world area's.
Diamonds that I've been passing over for years.
I had the sound off when I was at the XP farm and forgot when I hit record for this mining phase. Still diamonds located where you least expect them, diamonds in the dark.
