This is the Police....

The game is loosing it's luster for me. Not to get into any major spoilers but I have gripes.
One of the overarching gripes being the main stoylines being contradictory.
About 30 day's/turns into the game I "won" the war between two 'organisations' by siding successfully with one side. All through the story-line there were dramatic cinematic's. At the end of each day you'd get a clip of casino chips falling on images of one side or the other. The more for the side you picked the better. As I was saying "my side" won. But there was no cinematic, just a splash screen.

It was a disappointing end to that story-line. So I was surprised when the next cinematic I did get contradicted that splash screen information(Sands killed Vargas).

This contradiction got me to turn to google to see if I'd missed something or taken a choice affected things. And while I found I'd done nothing wrong I did read other people with their own gripes. Ones I'd not yet come across. Which leads onto the endgame. Not to spoil more but the TL:DR being that all your actions in the game including the war between Sands and Vargas has zero effect on the end game. Not even being recognised further on.

The main aim at the start of the game is that your character is retiring and he needs to make his 500k retirement fund either legal or illegally. Not even that matters as people have gotten the same endings and cash isn't recognised. And that's the main aim of the game (imho)! Yet another cinematic dramatic story-line wasted. One you'll work hard on and make a lot of 'hard' choices (stay legal or go very illegal), all meaningless. It's No Man's Sky all over again. Not that this game had Hype but playing the game for the journey and not the ending is pointless for me in this type of game.

No to completely crap all over the game; It does have a great style. Cinematic's and the day to day simulation of crime fighting is compelling. The map of the city at night with the lights flickering on or a thunderstorm brewing is atmospheric. Balancing the running of a legit police station v's your money grab for retirement and the seesaw side that brings you up against the mayor and city council demands can be a juggling act from Cirque du Soleil. But the overriding let down of the main story as a driving force as the game goes on is such a let down(imho); When choices are meaningless I don't see a reason to keep making them. I'd rather watch the cinematic's on youtube and save myself the time. For me to push through another 100 day's/turns of it to get to that end is a no no. I'm glad now that I bought it cheap. I've gotten my few Euro's worth out of it.
