Train Sim World 2....

Getting Train Sim World 2 free from Epic the last week or so was interesting. After installing and playing the game I'm probably now better describing my own take on Sim games as very casual. No real surprise there. For a Sim game to be casual takes a balancing act, some games can do it better....  Train Sim World 2 is very, very, very much towards the SIMULATION end of the scale. As in a day job without the pay.

I'm into Euro Truck Sim 2; It's a sim that can be played casually, or not, it has options. ETS 2 is an 'easy' Sim to get into(imho). Where ETS2 has the same controls for driving each truck, Train Sim World 2 has each train with it's unique class/models controls. I'd expect nothing less from a simulation but the game doesn't make it easy to play; It look at it as the game expects you to attend with a 1000 page manual and know theory. The kind of game that looks down it's nose at you asking why your here in this game.....

Despite the extensive tutorials it's a game that's a simulation, yes, but it's not a train a Train Engineer game. For me this game gave way to frustrations. Like when instructed to do something and yet there is no indication; so I'm left squinting at a panel of controls trying to read the labels. It's not all like that and there are good slider animations and ui instruction but it's not consistent in my view and it's lacking in some area's that the game considers 'obvious'. Clear as mud to me.

Long story short, in retrospect I think flying in Microsoft Flight Sim was easier than trains in TSW 2.....

Heck the SPACEX online sim is 'better' and more fun.

It's all down to a gamers personal SIM perspective. If your into it then you'll love it; If not it's not gonna be a thing for you.

I wish this game was as 'easy' to get into as I'd hoped. It's just not for me and 'trying' to persist with it was like banging my head against a brick wall. If the game could be played with a controller then it wouldn't 'feel' like a sim to me either. 'Dámn casuals eh'! It might make the game 'easy' to play but it's not an arcade edition it's Sim World. It's a niche thing. I might be better looking towards Tram or Bus Sim games in future.

The game does a good job of being a simulation. It has it all. Looks, sounds the feel of the different countries/trains/locations as well as the difficulty 'learning curve'....

Playing TSW 2 is like being a model train enthusiast. It's detailed, time consuming, costly and to the casual observer interesting but not all consuming.

Prices of those DLC! Ouch!
