Waiting for more 'real' progress from both games.....
Both games have dedicated development behind them. Both games have a strong community to offer pointers and feedback etc etc.
I'd be more 'into' both if there weren't game save wipes after some patches. Such is game development; And for as much content/changes as they add, if I can't keep a save going then I'm going to 'wait' and not 'play' it till it's 'done'.
Waiting for more progress.... And there is progress. Lots of minor tweaks in prep for a big patches. All ongoing but the B129 'major' release should be soon enough.... It will make a difference I hope.
Really glad to see these changes, fixes and new content come out.... But not having a game, 'as a completed game', has made me return to Silent Hunter III (like here, here and here); Not necessarily a bad thing but the promise of what Uboat could/is/could be a great experience and waiting for it is getting long in the tooth... For me. While a lot of games can be 'playable' in their development phases, this is a waiting game and 'just' waiting till things get 'finalized'.
I hope UBOAT is worth the wait.... However long that will be.
---------------------------------------------
It's been a long time since I last mentioned XO. The last time was the first time. Sept. 2019. Almost 2 years. That's a long time to wait for a game. Not as long as some and like Uboat, XO promises to be a good one when done. I can only imagine the emotional roller-coaster ride that original backers from 2015 must be on.
The game has the promise to deliver an experience akin to Battlestar Galactica. Build a fleet, struggle with resources and avoid/engage with an overpowering enemy no matter where you go. Whats not to like about that concept....
The reality has been a lot of promise and a lot of changes, tweaks and patches... It's work in progress I get that; These are some patches and updates with both small patches and large updates with colossal game changers. But like I've said before there's only so long I can wait for a game to 'be done'. Or be 'done enough' to be solidly playable. Never mind the save wipes on a new patch.
---------------------------------------------
Both games for me now are more permanently 'shelved' from my list of games to 'play'.
I want to play these games.....I'll get back to them at some stage if/when there really is a 'big release'. Both games seem to be 'getting there' soon enough. But for me, for now I can't take the waiting any longer. It's very much a me thing.
So a late spring cleaning.....I think I've spent far too much time waiting and a minuscule amount of time playing these games. Having bought these games I still think of them as an investment, fun to be had backed by the promise of what they could be. Hope springs eternal....
